1978. On September 17, 1978, Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar el-Sādāt signed the Camp David Accords that led to a peace treaty between those two countries the next year, the first such treaty between Israel and any of its Arab neighbours (Long-Term Change - The Camp David Accords: Foundation for Middle Eastern Peace).
Sadat was assassinated in 1980 by extremists opposed to the treaty, and the Camp David Accords have not created perfect peace, as is only too obvious. But after 25 years and 5 wars between Israel and Egypt, the two countries have not fought each other since, and the agreement set a precedent for the Arab world, showing acceptance of the right of Israel to exist and the possibility of peaceful negotiation.
I wish you peace!

Congratulations those of you celebrating a milestone today! Two years ago at this time I was in Rehab, getting ready to prepare our feast for our families. I look back and continue to be so grateful for being able to begin my Recovery journey at Casa in Pasadena.
I'll be signing in for the next 24 hours of my recovery, thanks to my HP & AA.
