(((Lumpy))) You know how sometimes you run across a post or story that really just touches your heart? That was one of them. I've always had an attachment to food, and have always struggled with my weight to boot. And once again, there is such a stigma attached to it - eating makes you a lazy pig. One of the last accepted forms of discrimination in my eyes. Someone posted a while ago about a friend with eating/weight issues and I was so taken aback by the name calling in the post "fatty" and the like, and just the sheer ignorance of how she was killing herself and wasn't willing to change. The post sat with me for a couple of days, I couldn't understand how someone with an alcohol addiction could not see their situations were exactly the same??? It was mind boggling to me and the very reason people keep it to themselves. Especially here, no one should feel shame - we truly are all alike. Hopefully in time there will be more awareness and education surrounding the problem so others can understand better.

I tell you, I have the greatest respect for it and you as you essentially have to learn to moderate. And we all know how well that goes for us addicts Of course you are struggling, we are truly in the season of overindulgence. People prodding you to eat - cookies and treats everywhere. And alcohol as well. This has to be tough for you, but you just hang in there

Gosh petals, I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I really left everything to the last minute as I was dreading it, but I only make it worse for myself - running around and stuck in line with all the other last minute folks. When will I learn?

Viking - congrats! It seems like we are neighbors! Are you enjoying this dreary weather? Ugh, it is miserable out. However, in my eyes, it's better than the dreaded four letter word - SNOW. So I'll take it.

Dee - was watching Muppets Most Wanted today and every time Floyd was on screen I would just crack up. Whenever you post I still see the words coming out of his mouth, I just can't get past that. I do love the Muppets, so that put a smile on myself today. When I just saw my oncologist recently he was telling me how his kids were harassing him to get out the ornament of Beaker I got him, which sings a song in Beaker talk. Thank goodness he is a good sport as I got it for him as he totally looks like Beaker! Lab coat, pants too short, tall and thin...you all get the picture. Also the fact he is Jewish....and has a very Jewish name, but I didn't realize it. I'm not good with that stuff. He told me the actually celebrate both in his household, so all's well that ends well

Wanted to wish you guys a Merry Xmas...here's to all of getting through the day safe, sound, and sober. Love you all

Thank you so much, Eyes It's so good to know that you understand and care ♥♥♥

Christmas Eve has fallen softly here. Having a lazy start before heading out for a meal with my partner. I'm 54, but I still get excited about Christmas Eve! There's something very magical about it

Hope everyone is doing well xxx

HL - that sounds great! It's Christmas Eve morning here, and like yourself I also enjoy it more than the day itself. Not that I have anything to do....we have a real small family and don't do anything, and I don't have a family of my own....so it's me and the tv today. But that's ok too!

This is my first Xmas sober...without something to give me a nice enjoyable buzz. I'm scared to death! My AV is working overtime right now. But there is no way I can let one day bring me down. I will have to let my buzz come from watching my 6 year old nephew tomorrow. I really do think Christmas is for kids, and I will relive my excitement from childhood through him. Breath deep and it will be over with soon. I can make it, I know I can.

Once again, best wishes to all!

Yeah Steve! Glad you made it here. Like I said we are a small group, but wonderful folks here. Great place....sometimes it's nice to be able to talk "out of the limelight" if you will. MrFixit is a hoot! Petals as sweet as can be! Of course you know HeadLump...Kahlia and MidnightBlue pop in from time to time, along with a few others. And of course Uncle Dee as well. Not sure how he manages to be everywhere, but he does it! Please feel free to chat with us whenever you like!

Merry Christmas all! Will be going to my brother's house tomorrow....will admit not thrilled about that. He lives about 45 minutes away and I am going to drive there with my parents as I have to drive one of their cars back to where we live as it's going to the mechanics around the corner tomorrow. So I won't be able to smoke on the ride down (I know, I know) but even worse is my father who drives so slow it makes me crazy! I will admit I drive too fast, have a bit of a leadfoot, but he's ridiculous. I always think if I were stuck behind him I'd probably flip him the bird haha.

The worst part is my brother is very much an introvert, always has been, but managed to find a wife that is just like him! It's very awkward, neither of them know how to entertain...my goodness they don't even know enough to offer you a drink! And neither of them talk much....it's like pulling teeth to have a conversation! And to be honest, I really don't like his wife! So it's very uncomfortable being in their house. The upside is my nephew, who loves his auntie - basically because I let him do what he wants and let him use my xbox to play video games! So always love to see him.

So once again, Merry Christmas to all....and to all a sober night!

Here's to a great new year for this awesome group!

No matter what you're up to, Eyes, I hope that you're as happy as can be.

I love the serenity found in your posts, HeadLump. Maybe your image helps, but it's always so calming .

Hiya, Petals! Awesome work on the first three days. I'm very hopeful that the next few have been totally manageable. I wish you the best as you push on to the end of your various trials!

Take care, my friends!

Happy new years to all my friends.

Lumpy I have always wanted to ride my motorcycle around that part of the country my grandfather was stationed near Dorset during the war at an air base and one of his favorite hobbies was riding through the countryside on his motorcycle.

It's a fantastic feeling, isn't it, my Fixy? So pleased for you, my friend

Hope everyone else sailed through New Year's Eve, or if not exactly 'sailed' then at least emerged unscathed and determined to make a positive start to 2015 xxx
