Missed checking in yesterday but remained sober. 24 more for me please. Have a great week everyone. |
Good evening, friends! Welcome to XIIIXXIXXVI! Welcome back to Vandermast! Whether you’re new to SR, new to this thread, just coming back, counting days or years, we’re glad you’re here! Congratulations to BarbieKen on 23 months of freedom :c011: and to all, congratulations and thanks for today! Here’s the list of those who’ve made part of their commitment to sobriety include posting on this thread from about 8:30 p.m. October 11 to 8:30 p.m. on October 12, back to NYC local time: 1newcreation afloatsober airwick AlcoholFree66 altoids Alynn Alysheba ANewDayNYC BarbieKen Beanie25 biminiblue Bubovski calico Cascabel casinva charleesavedme ChloeRose63 Coldfusion courage2 DaneK Dee74 erfra7 Findingtheway Flynbuy forabetterlife ForgiveMeAll ForMeForThem Gilmer Goat goose333 grtgrandpa HeartsAfire Hevyn j808 jsm273 Kaneda8888 Keegan Kiya Kris47 least mystified Purpleknight Resolv Salgal sickofthiscrap SnowDawg sthlondonab Suziequeue Tamerua tootsl1 Vandermast VikingGF Waterfalls2014 XIIIXXIXXVI yukonm Zencat zeppodog Pumpkins of course make me think of pumpkin carving, which is something my father directed with great enthusiasm and vigor and much waving of large sharp knives. As the littlest, I did a lot of pumpkin-innard scraping duty, and tending to the candles to be sure they didn’t blow out on windy Halloween nights. I didn’t care much for trick-or-treating, but I did & do appreciate a well-carved Jack-O-Lantern. http://www.lovehomeandhealth.com/wp-...tern-Patch.jpg Pumpkins (or punkins as it’s more properly pronounced back where I come from) also remind me of making mud pies when I was very little. There was a kind of fire pit behind my house from back when it was legal to burn fall leaves, and that’s where we’d carve pumpkins at Halloween, and also where we made mud pies, up to our elbows in rich black Illinois mud. Somehow the mud always ended up in my hair and behind my ears, and there’d be a hard scrubbing after a mud pie afternoon. http://cdn.blogs.sheknows.com/babyba...02/mud-pie.jpg SR lets me remember little moments like those, like found treasure from my own life, not as empty as my years of drinking had taught me to think. Thanks, and I hope to see you tomorrow! |
:Pumpkinwave: I love my weekend meetings the most. Sunday's are held at Las Encinas in Pasadena. It seems many people at my meetings have been at this institution on the road to their Recovery. There are definitely lots of choices here, including the womens rehab I entered. This alcoholic needs her "family" in Recovery, as much as my own. Anybody here reading, please reach out .... So much love & support in face to face recovery too. I'll be signing in for another 24 hours ......thanks to everybody for their well wishes. We're all in this together.:ring. Bobbi |

I am in for another 24. 11:11pm CST |
A "harvest ritual" from my childhood in Hawai'i was fruit fights. We had at least two dozen types of fruit trees in our yard, and there was always something rotten to fling at an unsuspecting sibling. Avocados were the best--the skin gets brittle, while the inside liquefies... 9:25 PM in the Douglas-fir forest, ready for another 24 hours sober. |
Another 24 hours please. 06.16am uk. |

I'm back in chilly ol' Ohio. The weekend trip did me good, I feel less stressy than before. I ate a bit too much this weekend, but that's ok. It doesn't count when you're on vacation. |
24 more will be cheerfully accepted! Portland, OR - 12:53 AM. Happy Monday, all! |
((((((BarbieKen)))))) :c011: Courage2, you took me back with the photo of the doll baby playing in the mud. I even remember the siding they used on the houses back when my girls were babies. I'll have another 24 in Maryland today. :) |
4:11 am in northern VA, USA. Courage, I loved the flickering sea of jack o'lanterns! I was a big mud pie maker, too! We had a construction dirt pile among some big trees in my backyard when I was a kid, and that was my home base for making mud pies. Somehow I had gotten hold of an aluminum set of coasters with scalloped edges, and used those to make my creations. That spot in the yard also served as home based for my friend and I as we played "Bewitched" with our Barbie dolls! We would crinkle our noses, and the Barbies would "fly" to different locations! |
5:20 AM East Coast USA. I need another please. |
6:00am Florida. Another 24 please! |
