Gods are all around us. New York is a pretty savage place sometimes, and a person might say that our ruling god is Mammon, the deification of worldly gain and riches. The local image that most vividly represents the pursuit of wealth in New York City is of course the Bull in the financial district, the aggressive, unpredictable icon of Wall Street.
It’s a little interesting to contrast the bull image with our other great icon, Liberty. Both are undoubtedly symbols of freedom. One, freedom TO --freedom to pursue one’s own selfish gain, head down, irrespective of humanity. The other, freedom FROM –from oppression, political injustice, a history of terror and domination.
Liberty stands straight, with her beacon and her book. The Bull charges always forward, with no direction but its own will. Which one do you choose to be your guide?
I hope y’all come back tomorrow!

In for another sober day. I feel like doo-doo, but I'll sleep like a baby tonight after today's hearty hike in the oxygen deprived mountains. My butt hurts too from kickin' myself so hard for my last attempt at moderation.
Sigh.....
I reckon it's about 7:20 PM here in Denver, CO.

Feeling low tonight, I did the action suggested by my Sponsor. But, my heart is not into this at all. Change. Damn!
Of course, I'm signing in for another 24 hours of my recovery. Thanks to my HP & AA.

I tried to recruit a newcomer to our thread, but the link isn't working...
8:21 PM in the San Juan Islands, signing in at exactly the same time as I did a year and a half ago when Deeker started this thread. I hope she is doing well...
