I got drunk we stay sober
I am grateful to have been 12th stepped by Sandy(Richard) Beach who will be buried this Saturday in Tampa, Florida. He was born on Sept. 9, 1931, and got sober on December 7, 1964. Almost 50 years of helping thousands of drunks like us get sober. Like me, he had 6 children by his first wife, and was a ten year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a Yale graduate as in "from Yale to Jail". His speech in 1976 is quoted in the book "Drop the Rock".
I post this because I have received private messages on SR asking about funeral arrangements.
I was born on Nov. 4, 1931, so Sandys' passing is close to home, and I'll have another 24 in Maryland today.

Grtgrandpa, it's so comforting to know that Sandy B. was able to spend so very many years of his life sober and in dedication to the Cause.

24 more, please. Exhausted but sober. My kids activities have ratcheted up a notch & I feel like we're always on the go, go, go. I never could've kept up drunk. So, so, so thankful for my sobriety today. And for everyone on this thread.
Not sure what day I'm on (how cool is that - no longer obsessively counting the minutes, hours & days!). I do know I'm heading into 60 days soon though!
