Prayers and thoughts, also, sent this way, everyday, for this room. May we all stay well and strong.

I post today in honor of the anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in 2001. I wasn’t living in the City on that terrible day but I remember vividly where I was when I heard the news as it was happening. Those events changed my perceptions of the world and shaped the world my son grew up in. For him, security, honor, and sacrifice are more essential values than they were to me as a child, and barbarism is a real, constant, vivid threat.
I’m glad that I’m sober today and glad for everyone here on today’s list. To alcoholism and addiction, we’ve all lost relationships and loved ones. Let’s pause today to think of other losses -- of those who lost loved ones to the atrocities of terrorism, and of those who were lost: police officers, firefighters, emergency medical workers, flight crews, passengers, and workers and visitors at the World Trade Center and Pentagon, and increasingly, journalists.

This rescue dog led a blind man down 70 floors to safety on 9-11.
In all of the suffering, there is still room for miracles.
