Have a good day Gilmer, and don't stop coming here if you need help wrestling the bull.

Well, I was writing and went to post and Dee had closed the thread. I had something else but lost my train.

Oh well.

Congrats on 3 BF

that was the main thing.

Toots - Hope your migraine is easing up today.

AF - Congratulations on 3 months, and on not drinking last night. It can be hard to carve time out of a busy work and home life for yourself. I've never done it before and it's been an adjustment for me and my family. I can't say they've been cooperative every step of the way, but I have been working through my discomfort with their lack of cooperation. My recovery depends on making time to take care of myself.

((Gilmer)) - You CAN turn the day around, or at least your perception of the day's events and challenges. You have a quiet strength that will guide you. I know you said you're focusing on your studies today, but keep us updated if possible.

Else - My spiritual journey started with little coincidences.

Sparky - During the very early days of my sobriety, my pain poured out like a faucet. I found looking at the Adult Child of Alcoholic literature and steps to be helpful on that part of my journey. It's taught me to feel the pain from my childhood when triggered, then release it, rather than reflect it into every relationship and situation in my life.

Drake - You're so lucky to have found an effective therapist. It's hard to find a good fit, but just hearing that it's possible, and the good results that come from it, is giving me the nudge I need to start looking for one. I always thought I know my issues, so what's the point, but nudges into action, a good kick in the behind, can be invaluable.

Sass - I agree that the more support and accountability, the better.

BFree - How are you doing?

Hi LS, Aly, Dottie, Trachy, Courage, North, DG, Dee, and the whole undies crew!

Last night was one of my most challenging yet this week. My drink of choice has been all around me during vacation, but last night was a more intimate group of people who were drinking some really nice stuff, right under my nose. I had to repeat to myself, "I'm not going to drink. I have too much to lose." It was hard. I ended up listening to my brother in law drone on about haircuts for an hour in order for my obsession to loosen its grip. I woke up this morning feeling vaguely stressed out, my thoughts going in a bunch of tangents. I'm struggling today.

Congrats on 3 months, AF! Coming close is scary but what really matters is that you stopped in time. That's really great!

(((Gilmer))), whatever is happening, I believe in you and you will deal with the raging bull!

Trachy, great visual for Gilmer :-) I, too, am certain she will do what she needs to.

Drake, better to lose the train than your brain.

Hi Aly and Sparky!

I'm feeling very good today after my first IOP session yesterday. I feel more positive than I have in a long time ... since around 3 years ago when I started drinking again. Old skills to deal with problems are gradually coming back!

Have a great day to all!

This makes me want to reach for a bottle just reading this. Great job not drinking as you had to live it. Plus, "Good stuff" can always be a challenge too. Just waiting until someone offers me a 50 yr old single malt. Saying no will be difficult to that too.

Glad to hear you're doing great on your vaycay GF, and keep fighting the temptations (AV, not the band). We're here if you need a break.

Congrats AF on 3 months!

GF I'm doing alright, thanks for asking. Havnt slept to great this week but glad I have remained sober this week. Great job staying sober last night!

Well just have to get thru today and tomorrow then it will be my weekend time. I really don't mind working Saturdays now with Sunday and Monday off. It's kinda nice having Monday off while everyone heads back to work. Dropping my sis off Sunday at LAX to head to Portland for a week. Thinking ill do some record shopping at Amoeba while in LA.

Years ago I had a job with Sunday and Monday off and quit around 3 on Sat. I loved the weekday off to run errands and shop without crowds.
