Thank you Anna and babs,
All great ideas.
I am actually looking forward to his next trip(in a month) to try these out.
I am seeing it as a challenge.
Bebetter gave me hope when she said her cravings have died.
When did this happen to anyone else here?
Just curious, if I can bank for it being harder for a certain time it will focus me more.

I think my cravings diminished a lot after a few weeks and I was able to really concentrate on making positive changes in my life. Know that what you are feeling is temporary and you will feel better. Have you ever tried journaling? That was something I tried when I dealing with guilt and shame, but it might help you work through your cravings too.

Madwoman - Yes, I have no cravings for alcohol anymore, but I feel the need to be honest with you - I'm still an escape artist with marijuana. However, it has little to no hold on me like alcohol did. I don't crave it, if weeks go by and I don't have it, I'm fine. With alcohol, I would be tapping my fingers until 4:00pm so I could have a drink while making dinner. With pot, I can have a thought early in the day that I might have some at night, but then the day goes on and I'm so busy I forget and don't care. I just wanted to say that, because it doesn't seem fair for you to think that I am completely sober. But I am sober in the sense that I've broken the obsession I had with alcohol and haven't replaced it with an equally devastating obsession.

Bebetter,
Thanks for your honesty.
So you still have a release, but that is what it is, not an all consuming addiction like before.
I feel much better over the last few days, less cravings and more sense of control over my life.
Thanks Anna, babs and bebetter for your hints and advice.
This is my first real attempt to get my life back and posting and reading posts really helps.
