Class of March 2011 Part 23
I'm home! What a trip, we saw a lot. Drove 13 hours today home from Vermont. The gang wanted to just get home instead of stopping half way and I was good with that. I'm lucky that D does all the driving, he likes it. So I get to read and stuff.
No, PBC I sent frances a private message awhile back just asking if she had any advice as to what to hit on the east coast but I didn't hear back from her.
In other news, guess what today is! Four year sobriety birthday for me, yay!
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Snow! I do NOT want to hear that word! Jeez now I have to check on you all to make sure you are ALL not going crazy! 92 today here heat index over 100 they say. Bring it! I like the heat. Congrats Aussie on III months! If a drunk like me can do it, you sure can...one day at a time. PBC hats off to you too! N Dave, n Mirage & of course the Dee Meister. New job going well....joined another home group as they have 6- 6a.m. Meetings a week! The morning meetings help me incredibly. My kids are still whacked out, but there's nothing I can do about it other than pray. If it snows Dee & Aussie, you keep that white crap over there, ok?
Mirage!!! Happy 4 YEARS!!!! Woot woooooooooooooooot!!!!!
I know it hasn't been easy, but I'm guessing it's been worth it. How have you changed in those 4 years? What have you learned that you'd be willing to share with those of us who want to get there, too?

Thanks, PBC! Oh it's been worth it alright. I'm able to model good behavior for my kids! I wasn't sure I would ever be able to do that. I still wish I could be a normal drinker as sometimes I feel alone as so many drink, but I know I'm just not and that's just that. We all have our own ways of helping keep us sober, mine is mostly just remembering how not in control I was. How plagued I was with thinking about what nights of the week I would drink and which I wouldn't if I had certain things I had to do. Those memories have been an excellent motivator for me. I really don't want to go back to that.
Hope everyone is well! Glad you are, bryan!

That's awesome, Mirage. You da woman!
We've been up at the cottage (close to the bridge) for several days now. It's crazy because dh and dfil have had beer in the fridge and have gotten them when out, and I haven't had a single craving. What a miracle!

Hi Bryan nice to hear from you.
Well done PBC no cravings.
Dave and Dee how are you doing?
4 months today , there has been so much drinking going on around me , really felt like throwing in the towel sometimes , I really want to be one of the drinkers too, depresses the crap out of me. Oh well.

Thanks, my friends!
That's just it, aussie. It's kinda like, "oh well". Can't have it anymore, don't let it become a big thing in your mind and depress you. When you start dwelling and feeling sorry for yourself, try to say out loud, a couple things that are going great, that you're thankful for, and change the track your mind's on. Think about your body healing from all the abuse you've given it. Tell yourself (essentially your AV) to shut up and just deal with it. haha. Four months is awesome, keep up the great work. Stay mindful. You don't drink...oh well.

Congrats on making it through that, Aussie! You're a rock star! If you can do that, you can do this for life. Truly.

Hello Marcher peeps! Just checking in, everything here is good. Had a high school class reunion this last weekend. I planned the whole thing! Starting in October when I reserved the banquet hall, setting up the paypal link to pay for tickets, opening a business checking account at the bank, reminding people to pay, choosing the menu, buying all of the decorations and going early to set it all up. We ended up with 80 people. It looked really good, the food was great and everyone had a really good time. Whew! I'm glad that's over. I've never done anything like that before. Tennis is still going well, I'm hitting really well, it's fun. Couple small injuries I need to address. Next week, I have an eye consultation with a lasik eye surgery guy so I'll be in glasses (no contact lenses) for 5 days preceding the appt. That'll be interesting. Other than that, just pluggin along!
How is everyone? Aussie still ok w/out the drink? Thinking of you ALL.

How awesome, Mirage! I've been considering doing our next one (in 4 years), so I may have to pick your brain a bit. Don't worry, I'll be gentle.
Today is 23 months for me ... my 2 year mark is coming up soon! I need to call the photographer and book our family portrait, which is how I plan to celebrate each year. Sobriety has given me my life back, and my family is the biggest part of that. I want to commemorate it every single year!
