He has been signing into the 24 hour club since the very first day I started it over 1 year ago. I don't think he has missed signing in a single day. Now that's commitment! Hello All, My name is BuddinK, I grew up in bowling centers, started leagues at age 4 and by the time I was 17 I had enough qualifications to turn pro. Being in center were tournaments were held, after the days bowling was done there wasn't any center bars that would card me. After all shouldn't a pro bowler be older? As most of them were? I was always with people older than me so getting a drink was never a problem. I turned 18 in 1980, the beginning of the "Decade of Decadence" and I fell right into it, bypassing marijuana and going straight for cocaine. I stopped doing coke in 1992 and never looked back, so, I thought," I'm in control, I can moderate myself when I want to. I kept drinking that whole time, however, I never drank at home, that way I could convince myself I didn't have a drinking problem. I didn't seem to realize that I just never went home until the bars closed. Over the years, I tried to stop on many occasions, but never lasted for more than a few days. I even moved halfway around the world to the Kingdom of Tonga were I thought I would slow down. I was really wrong. I moved back to America in 2006 and just kept right on drinking. I didn't have a problem, I never drank at home. Finally last March, I got arrested for DUI. I was pulling onto my property when the police pulled up behind me. That night in jail I finally realized how out of control I was. Logistically AA was not going to work for me as there were not enough meetings close enough or at times that would work for me, so I searched online and found you all here at SR. I'm coming up on 14 months sober, and I don't miss being drunk one bit. If anybody asks me I just say I'm retired. Sounds better than I quit! The 24 hour club, and my Class of March 2013 has really helped me to keep my head on straight. After all is said and done, getting that DUI was the best thing that could of happened to me, as my life is my own now and not dependent on when I getting that next drink. Stay Strong Everyone!!!! Thank You so much BuddinK, I liked the "Moving to Kingdom of Tonga", some call that the geographical cure. The only thing wrong with that is we bring ourselves with us. lol Great story BuddinK! BuddinK will have 1 year 2 months on May 9th! *Video For The Day- Bowling Trickshots 2 I would like to make a public apology to Bubovski, I have had lots of things on my mind, which is no excuse and I overreacted rather than responded to a situation between us. I hope you can forgive me Bub and I hope you are feeling better! ♥ http://img-s3-01.mytextgraphics.com/...56c0befdb0.gif If ever unable to locate the 24 Hour Club, Go To Search on Blue Tool bar and type in Newcomer Daily Support Threads and click Go.
