You don't pick up a drink. If you are going to struggle not to then maybe go to a local AA meeting or make a strong commitment to yourself. Maybe read all the resources that are on here and the net generally.
People do it! Lots do! But you have to really want to.

There isn't a best way. People use all sorts of methods. Probably the most 'popular' is going to AA meetings. But there are other methods, including something called Addictive Voice Recognition (just stick that in a search engine - there's loads on-line), Secular Support, which is about making a strong commitment - you name it. There are loads of books and literature - almost too much if one is new to this. I would suggest reading loads of post here and maybe some of the links to articles and resources about addiction. Perhaps trying an AA meeting to see if it feels right for you.
The start of it though is to really want it.

It's Sunday morning and 14 days in the bank. I am thankful for this site and forum. I visit a few times each day to try and keep my head in the game. I hope someday to be able to contribute in a meaningful way, given everything I am taking. Right now I think I fall into the "more folly than wisdom" camp .
Have a great day everyone!
