If I missed a special goal you have reached my apologies please let me know
in a pm.

Please Read

We would like to recognize your Anniversaries in the 24 Hour Club

However...

If you have not signed in for over 10 days I cannot assume your date is the
same or that you are coming back. Over 275 people have come and gone
through the 24 hour club since Dec 2013. It's heartbreaking but it is
the truth and just the reality of addiction. I pray that many have just moved
on to bigger and better things and are still in recovery.

So, if you take the time to sign in at least once a week, hopefully more, we will
be happy to take the time to recognize your Anniversaries.

If you are returning, Welcome Back! Please let me know your current overall
clean date if you would like us to start posting your Anniversaries again.

Thank You!

Thank You Miss venuscat for your service in Congratulating our
wonderful Celebrants behind the scenes.

New Roster will be posted 1 Hours 10 min from now at 10 pm EST USA 4/27.

How will I know I may be close to a relapse?

It will start with Dishonesty -It will begin with a pattern of little lies,
I may justify bad behavior, making excuses for not doing what I know I
am supposed to be doing for my recovery.

Impatience - When I have an attitude of I want what I want NOW.

Being Argumentative - When I have to have the last word or to be right.

Depression - When I am repressing my sadness, what is the"exact nature"
of those feelings? When I start to isolate.

Frustration -When things don't go exactly according to my plans. When I
lack acceptance on my part.

Self-pity - Blaming others for the way my life is.

Cockiness -Thinking I Got it made. That I Know all there is to know.

Complacency -When I no longer see the value of putting forth the effort
to recover or have contact with other alcoholics/addicts.

Expecting too much of others - If they would just do what I know is best
for them? Placing unreasonable expectations on others.

Letting up on disciplines- such as using the tools I have such as
meditation, prayer, my spiritual readings, AA contact, daily inventory,
meetings.

Being ungrateful - I may start losing sight of all of the abundant blessings
in my everyday life. For ex. forgetting where I came from and how very
sick I was.

The Jails, the Institutions, the suicide attempts, the broken relationships,
lost jobs, crashed cars, deep and utter depression.

"It can't happen to me." - Feeling like I am cured.

Omnipotence - Ignoring all those danger signs above, disregarding
warnings and advice from fellow members.

Entertaining thoughts - When I start playing with the idea of using in my
mind, imagining what it would be like and telling myself the relief I would feel
then I am in big trouble.

I actually have a few of those signs above and I really
need to address them.

These are my signs they may or may not be yours.

Are we dangerously close to a relapse today?

Hi, My name is Dan you may know me as AG2013,

I want to thank deeker for asking me to share my story on my path to sobriety.

I’m an alcoholic, binge drinker, alcohol abuser, drunk. I accept all the names. I come
from a good family. Great parents and one of five great siblings.

My relationship with alcohol began my first year of college. I found the beer keg and
bottles of Tequila and a lot of fun- 3 to 4 nights a week.

I loved it so much I forgot why I was at school -to graduate- which I never did.
Instead, weekend drinking and weekly binges got me only crappy jobs and a lot of
trouble for the next 10-20 years of my life.

It contributed to my wife leaving after 14 years of marriage, jeopardized loosing the
respect of my 2 kids and my friends, and almost losing my current job (which is a great job).

Two DUI’s, one drunk in public, and a nasty fight with a cop landed me in jail a few times.
It is truly a miracle I am still alive today.

One night I was watching a baseball game on my 7th beer. I was not only bloated by
the beer but bloated by the buzz. It just didn’t feel good anymore and was not fun.

I sat the beer down and asked myself “what for?” Why am I doing this? That was the
last time I had a drink- 7 months ago.

30 years of very heavy drinking (typical weekend drinking was starting off with 10-15
beers then hit a bottle of red wine and end off drinking down a half bottle of vodka,
every Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun night!) was taking a huge toll on my health.

I knew I was going to self destruct if I didn’t stop. I found on the web-“Living Sober
Sucks (But living drunk sucks more)" by Mark Tuschel.

I related to Mark very well and after reading his advice for a couple a months I was
able to stay off the booze and “ease” through withdrawal. I had joined SR too
and began coming to the 24 hr club, where deeker and the entire crew were great
at welcoming new arrivals.

My 7 months of sobriety has been a wild ride with many ups and downs but the
good times are worth it.

I began running 5k and 10K racing events which have been great physically and mentally
and a new passion. I’m even signed up for the San Francisco Marathon (1/2) this July!
I can’t wait.

I hope everyone stays strong and focused on making your lives better. We all know that
booze and drugs lead to destruction. Good luck to everyone.
Dan

Thanks Dan that was awesome, what an inspiration you are!!

. Dan for sharing, you seem very committed to your sobriety. Drinking does suck. Congratulations on 7 months! I loved the beautiful photos of San Francisco BTW. Thanks Deek.
Bobbi here to check in for another 24 hours of my recovery.
