Class Of March 2014 Part 5

Congrats on 3 weeks! I've noticed the negative thought loop is a bit easier to deal with too! Although anyone that reads my posts can see that my husband really gets under my skin.
Aside from this current conflict we are dealing with, I am very very grateful for his support. My drinking was really changing me in a way that suggested he could not be asked to attach himself to me much longer.
He didn't give me a hard time about the drinking for a few years, as I was going through a lot of traumatic events. But when we finally talked about it I realized I had done quite a bit of damage.

Just checking in before work. Looks like everyone has a good plan for the day.
I like the comment about March 2015 but it scares me to think so far out. I am still on the "Today I will not drink" stage. Next year will take care of itself when it arrives.

A quick check-in this morning. This is day 4 for me, heading off to work and probably won't get a chance to check the SR boards again until this evening. To all the other folks starting Day 4 also: "May The Fours Be With Us"
Checking in on day 14. Tired but clear headed. 2 weeks ago I had my last vile disgusting taste of foul poison (in my case it was warm cheap red wine it was nasty!). 2 weeks wow! Couldn't have done it without you all !!!!
Wow so much to catch up on and I don't have much time have to get ready to get to work...
Just a quick welcome to Dan & Coltybear and congrats to everyone for achieving your milestones!
Warmest thoughts to you all from California... -Chris

I'm thinking about a small road trip. Just a one-nighter away. I would love to stay in a hotel, eat in a strange restaurant, go wander about a strange town or park. I love new things and haven't been anywhere for a while...hmmm. Today I'll think of somewhere to go.
Good idea, you guys!
Oh, wait. Was that my idea? Who Am I?
I have a 10AM AA meeting. TTYL.
Be the strong kick-butters I know you all are. So proud of us.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Sitting here listening to the chatter of my two little kids and enjoying not being hung over. 3 weeks today since I decided I was done. And I've lost 8 lbs! I'm not a big person but the weight started to creep on. I guess that's what close to a thousand calories a day in booze will do! I've been sober three whole weekends now. Never ever though I could do that.
Thanks Nonna and AWESOME on 3 weeks Coltybear !!!!! I too must have been taking in at least an extra 1,000 to 2,000 calories per day when I used to drink. Not only the nasty alcohol, but the fact that it made me unnaturally hungry so I would eat more than I normally would. So grateful to be free from that trap !! Had a bowl of flax oatmeal from Trader Joes (good stuff!) and some hot tea this morning. Also LOTS of water. Staying hydrated Have a blessed day Marchers !!! March on !!!
Hi again.
Congrats all of you on reaching milestones and adding another 24 to your sober days.
Welcome any newcomers I've missed.
But the biggest question.......................
Where's Aarry????????????

Good morning from the western States, Sparkos!
I was catching up on everyone's posts. I love coming to this thread!
Another difficult night sleeping for me unfortunately. I slept about two hours longer than I wanted to so I'm a bit frustrated but I really didn't want to try to function on three hours of sleep!
That was a wonderful story about your wife! For me, it gives me hope that things are repairable and our actions really speak volumes!
I guess I'd best head over here and join thread 5 from March then...enjoyed reading and contributing to thread 4.
Off to begin a new working week.. I make this day 9 without a drink - which seems to suggest that there was eight days in last week!!!!
Speak later to you all - happy and content sleeping if that's what you're still doing... Have a lovely morning if you're already up.

I'm glad you're here with the Marchers!
Good morning, Ilya!
Sparkos has some great suggestions!
I'd probably go to the library and find new book or two to check out and walk across the street and read in the sunshine. Maybe grab a cup of coffee somewhere in the mix.
You've got this!

Well its 3 weeks here for me. I must admit I never thought I would get that far. Each day is easier. I have good mental techniques for battling the AV. Still need to change some bits of my life, not enough going on, leading to some negative thinking patterns. Having said that I spend much less time dwelling on the past now and it's much easier to stop the "loop the loop" thinking about the same thing over and over again in bed at night - that was so annoying!
All good though! Much much better than when I was a drunk. Sleep still needs improvement but the exercise (which I always did) is much easier to recover from now. I still have the occasional "disconnected" or out of body experience, but they are milder now.
GNight Marchers take care cya tomorrow

It sounds like you've made some really good discoveries. It's one step at a time and it looks like you've taken some really big ones.
