Class Of December 2013 - Part 2
Day 10. Heading out of town with kids to stay with friends. They are "safe" because they don't drink much at all. And won't think a thing of me not drinking. Just not on their radar (can you imagine?!). So I've been busy packing and getting ready all morning. Reminds me of past trips where I've tried to plan a stop on the way into town at a liquor store so I can have a supply with me since they don't drink. The secrets, they were just eating me alive. This is such a relief this way. No lies, no secrets, no expending huge amounts of energy trying to figure out how to get it. Big deep breaths.
Everyone have a New Years Eve full of peace. Wherever we are in our recovery, we are here, with each other. That is good.

It's not yet Midnight where I'm at in the US, so I hope I'm okay joining the class of December 2013. I've been abstinent from alcohol for 48 hours for the first time in years.
Good luck to everyone

Happy New year everyone! Day 6 here, feeling so good and I keep thinking why did I ever drink. And to think that the whole world is waking up.with a hangover today. I am so proud of myself, didn't even think about alcohol last night.

Hi everyone,
Day 14 and had a very nice and sober New Years Eve. Had a few moments of crankiness/irritability over not being able to enjoy a glass (or 10) of champagne, but I quickly reminded myself of just where 1 sip would take me and then I was over it. There is nothing better than waking up on the first day of a new year (or any day for that matter) hangover free. Cleaned up kitchen/dishes from last night and made my first pumpkin pie (only because my 3 year old asked me to ). None of which I would have done if I was hungover.
Hope everyone is doing well and Happy New Year to you all!

Day 5 begins. I feel ok not drinking and I know I'll continue to feel better BUT I'm worried about the day that will come when I feel so good and so normal that I forget I have a problem and pick up a drink again.
