LiaAc

I, too was addicted to pills
When high, they would make the world still!
First, I would sedate
Then, myself I would hate
Now sober, life is such a thrill!!

I didn't like feeling my feelings
And sometimes they would send me reeling!
Instead I would numb
That choice now seems dumb
'Cause to feel means that something is healing!

Miss EQ suggests newbie look back
To see how we all got on track
The battles we fought
The answers we sought
It will show there is nothing you lack

Here you can talk of your pain
Rail at what drove you insane
Help you put back together
Your lives, and will never
Fail to show you just what you will gain

Sometimes we talk about gratitude
having a positive attitude
Reaching a new platitude
But those chores must be done
Or here there is no fun
Falling just short of a gun
Or just mention the word Bradley
So many hearts begin to plea
Pick me, pick me, I'll make myself free
At times life can be a tangled mess
Remembering sins to confess
Let them out, you won't transgress
Recovery emotions take us everywhere
And could even move us to delaware (EQ)
And days with very bad hair (not me!)
I have no regrets
DG's has no cigarettes
Bottom line, I love you Dudettes!

Bravo Br00ksie!! How right you are!

I am finding this to be terrific therapy, Snoozy. Although I'd like to work a bit more on my rhyming. Things are a bit chaotic so my poems are less limerick and more....well, chaotic.

Hey Toots and IW, I learned heaps from what you posted. Love 'em! Good idea to check back through the threads, I'd like to learn how this got started. It was a brilliant idea, whoever came up with it. Glad to see you all here!!!

Lucy set up her stand
5 cents, therapy-land
The limerick crew grew
Once just a hopeful few
Now, a strong, sober band

There once was a Tramadol sneeze.
It came in twos, sometimes threes!

I noted that when,
sobriety set in,

those darned things began to ease. Whew!

*Accchoooo!!*

(Anyone else get those when coming off opiates?)

There is a sad one called "Inabadway"
Who's in detox having a tough time.
If you come across him this day
Let him know how sublime
Things can be if he will but stay
With SR. Healing comes as we rhyme.

He/she is posting in the 24 hour thread and is suffering badly and needs to let it all out.
Maybe his own thread. Hope Deeker can help direct him
Keep your fingers crossed for "Inabadway".

LiaAC, this may take you aback
It may make you laugh and then wheeze
But after 3 months (don't have an attack)
But after 3 months I still sneeze.

Once we were all in the clouds.
A mist on our minds, a poison shroud.

Once the fog was lifted, we saw we were gifted
With the clear, the here and the now.

Ugh, Else! Not the sneezes!

---------

There once was a girl called Else.
She said something about her self.

She said she still sneezes,
though sometimes it eases...

A part of addiction diseases! (doesn't rhyme with self, sorry. )

But here on SR it's all better,
she found a group of friends here- forever.
Grabbing a tissue, she said it's no issue,
for now we can all sneeze together!

I don't understand what the sneezes are. I was addicted to tramadol for almost a year. (6 years ago)

Toward the end of my addiction I was swallowing a bottle every 2-3 days.

OMG another one with the Tramadol! Finally I am not by myself! You're the only person I've encountered, so far at least, who took it and dealt with being addicted to it.

In the past, whenever I tried to detox from Tramadol I found myself sneezing quite a bit. My personal opinion- I think it's because you find yourself so physically sensitive when you stop taking an opiate, especially Tramadol, when you've been taking it so long. So I thought perhaps my histamine reaction center (or whatever it's called, the thing that makes you sneeze) was sensitive and therefore, I was more like to be allergic to all sorts of things.

But that's just me. Anywho, I'm glad you made it off that stuff Br00ksie.

I ain't nothin' but tired
From Bruce Springstein, I steal
What can I say when it's true
Stuck in the mud. I feel mired.

I'm so tired of struggling
And feeling no peace
I'm faded and weary
My life. I've been juggling.

Strife just keeps coming
Everyday brings new challenge
Straight is new ground for me
I fear, indeed. I'm succumbing.

I need but a rest
There's no sleep for me
This happens in cycles
Insomnia. Not for the best.

Today I devoted to me.
Slept in then a massage you see
From there went flea marketing
So glad I wasn't working
My "me" day was craving free!

I did not buy Christmas gifts
I bought things that gave me a lift.
I stopped hiding beneath covers
Didn't focus on others
And voila! All my cravings did shift!

Lia that's just beautiful ;-) thank you xx

EQ i i say good on you
I did exactly that too
Woke up with a smirk
Called in sick for work
Much retail shopping to do

Though I've never felt better
i went hell for leather
Time of the essence
I bought lotsa presents
Unleashed and ne'er to fetter.

Now let it be said and i state it
I'm really exhaustapated
Holly said." Mum that's no word "
I said " dont be absurd "
The scrabble queen just then made it !

I shopped without much aplomb
Where did all this come from
Yet alas mum is cranky
And really quite frankly
I need my SR.COM. :-)

My Christmas decorations are all out
This holiday I'm not at all in doubt
Thanksgiving made me want to moan
So Christmas I'm just gonna stay home
This way I have nothing to worry about

No huge family crowdies
Or people getting drunk and roudy
No feeling left out
Or wanting to cry or shout
And no feeling pouty

This year I'm rathering
A small at home gathering
Where I can be in my comfort zone
Nice and warm at home
And in the cold no traveling

So I've hung up my tree
To bring Christmas glee
I'm put up the lights
To brighten up the night
Soon I'll be leaving out a cookie

For old Saint Nick
But I am a little concerned and sick...
For I have no chimney you see
Do you think he'll still come to visit me???
Or from his list will I be kicked??

This has me quite worried
If only Christmas would hurry
I wouldn't have to wait in fear
That santa won't bring presents here
Or what if he gets stuck in a snow flurry??
