The Sleeping Tiger
For me to continue to stay clean and sober I must be spiritually fit.
Now some of you may think I am saying you must believe in God. Though
I do, that is not what I am saying. What you believe is your own business.
What I mean by being spiritually fit is...
Steering clear of things like resentments, anger, frustration, selfishness,
self pity, justification, dishonesty , and all those unseen characteristics
which put me in a bad place.
I read somewhere, where someone said they likened addiction to a Sleeping
Tiger, it knows when we are feeling any of these bad emotions and starts to
plant ideas in our head (the obsession or AV if you will).
Before we know it, this Tiger is awake and pacing obsessively, in our minds,
round and around in a circle, ready to pounce.
Saying things like " Oh you can have one drink and then stop? You don't
have a problem!, No one will know, You can cheat "
It knows our weaknesses, and it preys on the knowledge that it’s the
obsession of every alcoholic/addict to control and moderate our drinking and
or drugging.
This is the point where we either jump and relapse or choose to fight.
What is your choice today?
Are we staying positive today? Something bothering you?

Count me in. 19.5 days sober. I feel good mentally and I will not drink for the next 24 hours. I promise you my friends.My wife's work Christmas party tonight. Would rather scrub the oil stains off the garage floor, but I guess I have to go. Small talk for 4 hours with a group of drunks while I guzzle Club Soda and Lime!! Yippee, can't wait. Oh, I also have to put a tie on. Even better.

I'm in for my first 24 post. Three days sober. It's 8:49pm in my current home state, Arkansas, and 6:49pm in the wonderful state I grew up in, Oregon (I MISS YOU!!!). Congrats to everyone on one more day. It really adds up!
