The Sleeping Tiger
For me to continue to stay clean and sober I must be spiritually fit.
Now some of you may think I am saying you must believe in God. Though
I do, that is not what I am saying. What you believe is your own business.
What I mean by being spiritually fit is...
Steering clear of things like resentments, anger, frustration, selfishness,
self pity, justification, dishonesty , and all those unseen characteristics
which put me in a bad place.
I read somewhere, where someone said they likened addiction to a Sleeping
Tiger, it knows when we are feeling any of these bad emotions and starts to
plant ideas in our head (the obsession or AV if you will).
Before we know it, this Tiger is awake and pacing obsessively, in our minds,
round and around in a circle, ready to pounce.
Saying things like " Oh you can have one drink and then stop? You don't
have a problem!, No one will know, You can cheat "
It knows our weaknesses, and it preys on the knowledge that it’s the
obsession of every alcoholic/addict to control and moderate our drinking and
or drugging.
This is the point where we either jump and relapse or choose to fight.
What is your choice today?
Are we staying positive today? Something bothering you?
Best To Let It Go! Could be open season for the sleeping tiger.

Another 24 please. It's a beautiful sunny day in Bama. Thanksgiving and putting up Christmas decorations (especially those crazy lights on the tree that decide to go out after the ornaments are on!!) all accomplished sober and with joy
Day 29. Had an insanely rough night... Happy to get through it. Had a good vacation, good Thanksgiving and Hanukkah has been nice as well. Really can't wait to hit 30 days tomorrow. Thanks to deeker for always sending nice messages. Love my NA home group. In for another 24.
Thankful for another 24. Its 4:23p here. Attended a 7am BB meeting this morning. Worked with my brother all day. He does not drink. My normal weekend routine when we worked together was to drop him off, pick-up a bottle at the package store on the way home then go into McDonalds and but a large soft drink. I'd fill it with ice and and add a little diet coke. Add some vodka and have a nice short ride home sipping it. Nice warm belly by the time I got home then drank from my stash until bed/pass out time. Felt a little melancholy driving by that package store today but I made it home w/o stopping. Sniff-sniff..feeling sorry for myself this afternoon.
