I'm workin' on it ...life can be a real sob at times but we gotta play with the cards we got.
Aw, Hooped - so GLAD to read this!

~~~Food 4 Thought...Thank God It's Monday Edition~~~
~~~If U Only Believe~~~
I'm still here SR and its been awhile and its been an eventful while. Been away and haven't been posting because of the crazy schedule so will come back later on to update you guys on my journey. Just wanted to share some mental vitamins for you all until I return later on.

f you believe you can, you will.
If you believe you can't, you won't.
If you believe you are not lovable, you won't be.
If you believe you are not smart enough, you won't be.
If you believe you will die from your disease, you will.
If you believe you are not good enough, you never will be.
If you believe other people are against you, they will be.
If you believe money is more powerful than you are, it will be.
If you believe you have no influence over other people, you won't
If you believe other people are more powerful than you, they will be.

Listen to your beliefs, think about how you learned them, and realize that they are not genetic, nor are they the "only way." You are free to acquire new perspectives, to absorb new ideas, and to question everything you were taught to believe. As your mind opens to exploration and change, you'll feel a new lightness and more joy.

Fish, I think Lorelei meant she hoped you were drinking water, not in your boat on the water.

I hope you are home and sleeping it off and post back soon.

Renarde, I hope your father is okay. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Way back when, AA did deliver. I've been on a few 12-step calls. Went with a sponsor to visit someone who wanted help.

Don't know if they still do that, though, but calling them's worth a shot. I expect someone will at least talk to you.

Renarde, praying for your dad.

Happy to see BLK and Lorelei are here!

FIsh - I think I missed the part where your work found out you were drinking. I thought they just gave you a raise? Take the rehab.

Renarde - I hope your dad is ok. Hugs.

Good morning all, odd sort of day - warm and then going cold later on.

Just checking in. I had a lazy day yesterday. Not sure why but didnt feel like doing much. So, as a reward, I was stung by a wasp on my way to meditation class It was my fault, walked too close to the nest. Fortunately, the sting didn't go deep and I only had a headache for a short while. Its funny when I reflect on it. I am enjoying the visualization meditation. It seems more effective than the breathing method. In meditation, thoughts seem to float around in half formed shape and they don't fully penetrate my consciousness. Especially if I keep very still and focus hard on the image.

Aside from that, no particular dramas in my life yet. That starts on Thursday.

Lorelei: so happy to see you posting here ! Good to see you've got solid weeks under your belt though it sounded pretty tough. Stay with us

Blkdiesel: hooray, you're still around ! Good to hear from you

Hooped: man, you made a big step. Now keep taking those strides forward, you are on the road to recovery

Renarde: I hope that there is nothing serious with your father

Fishy: I reckon you shouldn't make any hasty assessments of your family situation until you've had a proper chat with your wife, its all conjecture until then. Do the rehab, you will come out so much better for it

Have a lovely evening/day all. thanks as ever !!

Still here, still sober, still crabby.

I'm rooting for all of us and our family members...

Thanks for letting me be a quiet lurker for now. I want my pink cloud back, dagnabit.

I drank and smoked ciggies last week, Wednesday night I believe. Major anxiety attack on the bus to work the next day. First time I've had to go somewhere the day after drinking in a long time. I made it through but barely. I just kept telling myself, you're ok you're ok we're not going to get in this position anymore, can't have a good life like this, no more drinking, it's ok it's ok....etc etc til I got to work. I was drenched in sweat that dried to freezing and I had a nasty headache all day. I had to talk to the nausea to keep it down.

It's hard to be enthusiastic about recovery now that I've drank several times since I quit. But I am determined. I have no intentions on going back to how things were. That would be terrifying with unimaginably bad bad bad consequences.

Just wanted to say hey to all.

Fishy, I want you to just keep swimming, buddy.

xoxo,
Melina

Take the rehab Fish.

Like I said to Hooped - it never gets any better drinking...if you want things to get better and maybe even get back some of the things you fear you might lose, putting down the bottle is the best start you can make.

And AA still does 12 step calls. Call your local AA office.

I hope your dad will be ok Renarde - prayers for you and your family.
