So those of all ages can be
supported and safe
in the choices they make
And hopefully choose sobriety!

Sorry to be a wet blanket
And I'm glad at least we haven't drank it
to drown out emotions
I am not condoning

Up this morning at sparrows fart
(That's not cussing EQ it's art!)
Hubby's face in the night
woke me with a fright
( we're currently 3000 miles apart)

His face all drunken and rosy
Me all bleary and cosy
I knew that this morn
I would feel hard worn
But I'm happy and don't care if I'm dozy!

Years ago air mail post
Would be eagerly awaited the most
Then faxing and email
Reached quicker without fail
Now texting and face time keep him close

his sadness cries out to the n'th degree
I was also a fraud
but for the grace of God
hard work, sober friends, holds The Promises' for me

I met this man in AA
his crimes spanned a wide array
he killed another
who was someone's brother
then turned a gun on himself in that fray

he chairs a meeting each Thursday
through AA and God he has found a new way
13 years in prison
now his life has been risen
to help, to guide, to repay

Ipanema

Trick or Treat all with costumes so neat,
Make us think of fun and past day's treats,
When never our bags were feared and thus checked,
For awful things given by souls most wrecked,
The costumes were often homemade masterpieces,
Made with Moms, Dads, Uncles, Aunts, or Nieces,
But little did we would fear we may hear about trouble,
As we ran with joy, plastic pumpkins, or some Bubbles,
The times were so sweet, the times innocent,
Parents sometimes not knowing wherever we went,
Just flew out the door on our Mission hell bent.
The joy of the Holiday, just fun and the great candies,
We want the past innocence back for our friends and families.
Until we can trust no one is awful, cruel or mean,
We'll not for our children so much trust Halloween.
As we do with great concern protecting our Sobriety,
Our antennaes will be up as we check the varieties.
We go with the flow, take precautions as we do other things,
And do our best to celebrate the funnest holiday, Halloween!!
So to all on the Sober SR Site, blessings and a great Halloween!!

My brother , yes you are someone else's brother but you could easily have been mine. ( or son )


When you were just a little boy , you didn't choose this path.
You had family , toast for tea, a nice warm watered bath
Your mother looked into your heart and saw her little boy.
she couldn't see what lay ahead , let's find another toy.

I want to see you up and grow, to make good of your life
Have family , be so carefree and take a lovely wife .
Where did you go my little boy for you are now a teen
Pretty girls , some with curls some few and far between.

My wayward son what have you done , for you found Chrystal meth
Please think of me your sister thee , let this not cause your death.
Do you not know , we love you so , but care not as you may
For nothing we can say or do , will help you find your way

But on deaf ears it took a hold , down devils lonely lane
What did you think , how could this be, a life marked full of pain.
Your skin doth crawl , your teeth do rot. Your looks are barely there

Love cannot help , it cannot free , it has to bide its time

Halloween has been and gone
Moonlight on little monsters shone
