Loved that Craig Ferguson video, too.

He's playing here sometime in the near future and I tried to get tickets but he's all sold out.

My dad was only 62 when he died. Results of too much smoking and drinking. I miss him. He never thought he had a problem because he never missed a day of work from drinking.

Fish, your boys would miss you.

And I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, Eddie.

Fish, I am so sorry about Eddie! That really stinks, to receive that news on a day that is already proving to be a tough one.

How are you doing right now?

Looked at that calender every day with great anticipation.

Come July 1st I had a six pack of good European beer.
Totally enjoyed it, wow did I ever.
No hangover the next day, no problems wanting more that evening.

Of course the next day I got another 6 pack.
The day after that ...a 12 pack.

I drank every day during my holiday, and every single day for the next year till
I came to my senses again.

Here is an awesome video of Craig Ferguson talking about his alcoholism:

Craig Ferguson Speaks From The Heart - YouTube

I love it when he says, "I don't have a drinking problem. I have a thinking problem"

That's me... this video really helped me out and I hope it does for someone here.

Have a great day!
Thanks for your history!.....that would be my pattern as well except with a pint of Vodka or Tequila everyday.

Pretty insane how time just clicks away when we all back into that pattern too.

Oh Fish, I am so sorry about your friend, Eddie. I know you are mouring the loss of so many things right now, and now your friend. Hugs to you.

I once deleted a very direct post I wrote to you. I was worried for you buying the house on the lake and the lifestyle that sounds like goes with it. But now that you sort of brought it up, it does seem challenging.

You endanger all your friends driving around in a boat drunk. Maybe that can help you stay sober?

Hoop, thanks for the video. Never saw it 'til now.

He's funny and certainly lightens up the subject a bit, but I wish more people like him could tell that story. I think it's damn shame that it is promoted to the extent that it is.

I related too, because I am/was a self-medicator.

Stay strong Septemberites.....

I am really sorry to hear that. But "worse" doesn't need to lead to a drink.

We were nearing the end of thread 10 and since dee's on sabbatical, I dunno who is starting the new threads, so I took the initiative.

Since today is Craig Ferguson day, I thought you might also enjoy this monologue he did on rehab...
Rehab Monologue - YouTube

He has a way of telling a story that's very engaging.

I'm sorry for your loss Fish. A wise person on SR recently said: "Nothing happened or will happen today that a drink will improve"

Maybe you can honor Eddie's life by remaining sober?

I totally sympathize with the lifestyle thing. Do you have a go-to non alcoholic drink for the boat/other outings? Being from a super wet southern city myself, it isn't easy to be dry around enthusiastic drinkers, but a substitute that looks like the real thing will keep a lot of people off your back.
