What's To Miss? ( About Drinking and Drugging)

Feeling deep, shame, remorse and guilt every morning.

Worrying about who I fell down in front of .

Sweating profusely all the time .

Going entire days without eating and dry heaving at the sight of food .

Breaking my promises.

Not remembering where I was last night or how I got home. .

Not being able to do anything without alcohol.

Anxiety!!

Lying to my son saying I am sick and can't play with him.

To busy drinking to play with him.

Being obsessed about whether 'I can or can't drink , wondering if I will have enough.
Do I have enough in the house? etc.' or 'How can I get through this night without a drink?' .

Waiting on the drug dealer.

Doctor shopping and faking injuries to get drugs.

Obsessive pill counting.

Passing out and waking up by the pool with burn holes in my pants only to wake up
and pour another drink.

Trying to remember if I did anything stupid the night before .

Sneaking into the house at 2 am.

Ashamed to face the neighbors after a cookout.

Waking up with that panicked feeling thinking "who did I talk to on the phone last night?

Reviewing my facebook posts the next day.

Vomiting or dry heaves trying to brush my teeth the next morning.

Hangovers .

Calling in sick and making excuses .

Throwing up on the side of the road.

Pregnancy scares .

"Where did that bruise/injury come from?"

Fear of getting pulled over for a DUI .

Wondering why my wallet is empty .

Spending money that I don't have .

Heartburn .

Sharing a jail cell with a 6ft woman who doesn't take to kindly to my snoring.

There is nothing about that life that I miss!!

NO THANK YOU! I think I'll keep my nice drama free clean and sober life!

It's a LIE

Our addiction will often tell us to just give up that we are bad people, worthless without
hope. Don't believe it for a second!

My life has value, your life has value. I don't care what I did or you did. We are here on
this earth for a purpose.

I have to change that thinking from the past. I don't have to achieve perfection, I just
need to keep moving forward. Keep putting forth the effort.

I have decided I will not, not do to nothing because I can only do little. I will do what I can.
I will take baby steps to get where I want to be.

There will be setbacks, but I can't let little stuff completely defeat me. I can't beat myself
up for falling short. I am human.

Today let's not be defeated by a small setback. If you slipped, just start over again.

If our attitude has slipped, we can start our day over anytime we choose.

We don't have to let a bad moment completely ruin our day. Let's just shake it off.

We don't have to drink and drug over every uncomfortable feeling.

Feelings pass. But the consequences of drinking and drugging could last a lifetime.
