Wow, frances! Good for you and your awesome runner self. I can't imagine being in shape like that. Thanks for the kind words, they made me smile.

Glad you're feeling better, aussie! We have another fairly cold week ahead and then we should start warming a bit. The snow is SLOWLY melting away. Went and saw the muppet movie today, thought of you, Dee. It was good, we liked it. I had a happy, loving day. Yay!

Last night was interesting to say the least.

We were meeting a couple ... dh works with the guy. They wanted to meet at a little dive bar out in the boonies. Ok. So we got there, and it was a big round table of them and several of their friends, and most of them were trashed. It seems that that's actually their favorite and only passtime, so we listened to story after story of all they drink everywhere they go. They were nice and all, but I didn't have much to add to the conversation. I smiled and nodded a lot.

Dh had 3 beers. He hasn't drank much since I stopped, and he's not a big guy (tall, but not big), and he was sick when we got home. (I drove) Poor guy. I took good care of him because he really felt awful. He has no tolerance anymore, and he also has an esophagal condition that makes it much worse. I'm thinking he won't have much use for alcohol for quite some time after this.

I did not feel in the least bit tempted at any time, nor since then. It was not attractive. They were loud, slurring, and so limited. I nursed a Dt. Coke all night, and not one of them asked me why I wasn't drinking with them. They watch me on tv all the time, so I think they think it's because I'm into healthy eating. Ok ... whatever. I was prepared to tell them the truth if they asked, but it didn't come up.

Mirage, I want to thank you for what you said. You're SO right, and that's been my MO many times in the past. I didn't drink too much in social situations ... I could make a glass of wine last 2 hours. But then I'd be so proud of myself and reward myself with a bottle of rum on the way home. I'm like that with food, too. I can eat completely moderately and healthfully at Thanksgiving dinner, then dig into the leftovers when everyone goes home. I recognize it now and plan other ways to feel rewarded, such as saving a new magazine to read after everyone goes home.

Frances, that is a LOOOOOONNNNNNG way! Oh, my! You totally rock!

Aussie, I hope your BBQ was yummy!

Rosie, are you around? I miss you and I'd love to hear what's up in your world lately.

Dh went with me to my meeting tonight, which he does sometimes on the weekends. It was a great topic! Deep stuff. Meaningful stuff. I think he got a lot out of it, actually ... and I know I did. I love having him there. We invited a friend of mine, with his wife and kids, over for dinner this coming Friday. I'm excited to get to know them all more! It's nice making new, sober friends.

Wow PBC, look at you shining in the Light! I'm so grateful you are feeling so good. And I hear compassion in your words too. I think that's a key for me--being compassionate with myself, being kind with others.

Mirage I think I would enjoy that muppet movie also, I have seen the clips and it looks funny.

PBC you really do sound solid with your recovery.

Frances, I wouldn't be able to move for a month if I tried to run around the block let alone attempting something like that.

Well it did rain but we still lit the BBQ we were under cover on the back deck, it was only my husband and myself but we had a nice night he hasn't had a drink now for 3 weeks and is on a health kick.

Nice going, PBC! Sorry you had to hang out with drunk people, what a serious drag.

That's great your husband isn't drinking, either, aussie. That helps a lot. Mine rarely does, either now. Never just when it's us, but sometimes when we're out with friends, and I know he does when he's on a guy's weekend. It's sure nice not to have it on his breath, etc. Yuck. Even if he just has a couple, I hate that smell.

Going to the thumb doctor today! Yes, there are thumb doctors. I'm trying to make it more hurt and swollen than usual so he can see there's something wrong. I can't have it looking normal when I get there. (Where's that hammer?) He'll probably tell me it's arthritis or something, which is fine. I don't need a dire diagnosis to be happy, any ol' diagnosis will do. Just diagnose the digit, for the love of god. Apparently my primary doctor couldn't handle that incredibly difficult task, so I had to schedule an appointment with a specialist. A Thumbkin specialist. I should go in humming the "where is thumbkin? song. lol Or I could shut it and appreciate the help I'm about to receive. I'll think on that.

Have a great day, my Marchers!

He diagnosed it alright! ~gulp~ Osteoarthritis. It's also showing a bit in my middle finger, which I made sure to show him after that diagnosis. haha. I'm bummed cuz they can't fix me, but I guess..no, I'm bummed. I was gonna find that silver lining like 'no surgery' or something, but this is kinda sucky. I feel a bit young for this particular problem. I guess I can only hope it does't get worse too fast. Got prescription Motrin and I'll take glucosamine and chondroitin and see if that all helps.

Did I mention we're getting our hardwood floors redone? I'm excited, they're a light oak, and we're having them sanded and stained dark. I think it'll look awesome. It's fun updating this joint a bit! I'm up on my bed right now cuz they're sanding downstairs. We don't have a ton of hardwood, just in the hall and kitchen. Crazy day with the kiddos today. Happy hump day!

Glad your feeling better Aussie--way to hang tough!! Doesn't bother me as much anymore to hang around people who are drinking PBC, it did at first. It would really get on my nerves & I wouldn't stay around them much. Now, when family comes over & drinks--(this is amusing) I play games with them...like hide or move the drink, move things around on them--it may sound cruel, but it entertains me...nothing harmful mind you...just sort of mind games. Mirage--do you know if there is an index finger doctor--I sliced into mine with a knife--right through the nail last week...painful--but healing just in time for opening trout fishing this weekend--better warm up!! Frances---I hope to spend more time on LBI this summer...maybe I'll be around for the Dog Day Race??? Up early & off to the gym...got on the scale for the first time this year yesterday...(not a scale person)--managed to lose 9 pounds since the New Year---"progress, not perfection"--it's what life is all about.

Hi everyone! I've been reading, but too busy to post lately. I'm feeling pretty stable in my sobriety, so that's very, very good.

I got a call from a neighbor early this morning. He's recently divorced, and was sick all night. So, I got up and shopped for him .. he needed electrolyte drinks, but I also picked up some magazines and a bone for his dog. I just made some potato soup that I'll have dh take over in a little while, too. Poor guy. This is his first time sick since he's been alone. It's nice to be feeling good myself (read as: not hung over or still buzzed from last night) so that I can be there for someone else.

My dh is a bit sick, too, so we're skipping church. I'll go to my meeting tonight, which is also a worship thing on Sunday nights.

On a positive note, it's sunny and warmer than it has been this morning. And dd13 kicked tushie at the volleyball tournament yesterday. Woot! I'm loving seeing her grow into herself.

Speaking of her, we had some friends of mine over for dinner Friday night. The guy goes to my meeting, and I'm making an effort to develop deeper friendships with AA friends. His wife was completely a doll! I loved her. They happen to have a couple kids, and one is a 13 year old boy who goes to a different school than she does. I told her on Monday, and it came up again on Tuesday. She said to me, "I know, Mom ... we're texting right now." She'd sent him a fb friend request and they'd become friends overnight! That's my girl.

:choir

Aussie, NICE GOING on the exercise!!!! Yay for you!

PBC I hope your husband gets well soon and you don't catch it, also nice thing to do looking after your neighbour. I feel better for all the exercise I am doing, mentally and physically if only some weight would come of, I think it has a lot to do with age though.
