Well, you could hardly say that the weather is lovely here today. It's so dark, it's like the witching hour and the heavens are weeping (buckets!) but it's still beautiful outside and autumn is really coming on.
We bought an acer called Brandy Wine last year in the hope that it would, at some point, live up to its name. Its leaves stayed stubbornly green and then unanimously threw themselves off overnight during the first October storm. This year, however, the leaves have turned the most gorgeous pink and red, and the shade gets deeper and more vibrant every day. It is wonderful to see
I suppose there's a moral in there, with its name and the fact that I am sober this year, but I cannot think what it is! My head's still reeling from the fact that my football team (Exeter City) won 4-0 away from home yesterday, which must be their best result in at least 5 years!
So, yes, I'm having a very nice weekend

Congrats, Carlotta! Pretty warm, Reeny? I'll check out that plant HL. Hope everyone is doing well.
Things are very good here. The weather has cooled as the days grow shorter. We had an excellent backpack trip. I bought a 1 person tent from a friend to lighten the load. Haha, I was feeling every ounce of the pack last Sunday. My sons laughed when I asked them to carry some of my gear. Geez, they have a short memory. They aren't little kids anymore and no longer think I'm a superhero. But I'm not old enough yet for them to feel compelled to help me. Maybe we should wait a few more years to do the Appalachian Trail.
