Class of June 2013 Pt 4
LOL - literally, GreenEggs&Ham, re: having to watch movies over and over. I'd forgotten about that. I'd order a PPV movie ($6.99 a pop) and have not even a vague idea of the movie's plot.
Thanks Dee for your response, "I was a 100 different people in the first 100 days". Man, is that the truth. 'Hope tomorrow's better - you're amazing, more like a shepherdess than a "moderator".

Morning all - especially the newbies - this is a fab class and I hope it gives you as much strength as it has me - looking forward to getting to know you all better.
Dee - hope you're feeling better today
Well done Bensmammy on passing your random breathalyser :-) and well done for completing your grad paper Sonrissa.
Good on you for giving away the bottle of wine, CRW :-)
Ref the fatty liver; my mom was diagnosed with a fatty liver a few years ago and she stopped drinking. She told everyone she just 'lost the taste for it' overnight - and that is a story she's sticking to years later. I knew there had to be something else - but only found out a few weeks ago when my father told me - as a precursor to telling not to get pi***d at a family do as I'd embarrass him again. Some powerful images shared in the last posts about dying alone and I'd like to thank you for sharing these - it shows the end of the road if we don't step off the path, and whilst I would have skipped over these when sober (with a unhealthy dose if denial) a few weeks sober does clear the mind and make me appreciate that this could have been me in a few years is I hadn't got help (my AV is telling me that this never would happen but since my AV is a liar I'm not listening).
Right, it's 6am here and I've got a lot to do before the decorator gets here at 8 - late into work for me today because of this - but I am sooooo excited :-) :-)
Been dreaming about a new living room for years: finally doing it!
Oh - and worked out that the money I would have spent on booze over the last few weeks (sorry, at 25 days I'm allowed to say 'weeks' now which is very exciting) has paid for my Laura Ashley wallpaper and cushions - so I've basically got free wallpaper and cushions :-) wow!
Have a great day all - will be back to bother you all later :-)

I've only just woken up. My first literal lol of the morning. Thanks Dylan
I thought Dee was a woman too the first time I joined. It's all in the name. Right cuppa and a catch up, I was about to launch into what a rotten sleep I had, but that seems to be becoming a pattern - so I won't.

Hope you're feeling better very soon Dee.
Crikey it was a busy posting night last night, I can't keep up. I did log on via phone abot 1am, I woke up convinced one of the cats had brought a mouse into the bedroom. That still remains to be seen. Over active imagination I think.
Well done on passing on the wine cheapred - here's to week 2! Well done on your Grad paper Sonrisa, hope the decorating goes well LBa41. Hello to everyone else and welcome to all newcomers
The final season of Dexter has begun! (in the US) downloading that and getting the wine in has almost been a ritual for me these last few years. Like the films, I rewatch old episodes and think I don't remember that. Hmmm. I think I can only do the finale justice by giving it my complete sober attention.
Right better get cracking or else will be late on the nursery run. Later everybody.

morning all! day 15 here. off to physio this morning (helpfully, my physical health is also shot), then my usual coffee-and-kindle routine.
i thought i'd go swimming today but i'm not feeling it. might go for an inspirational movie day instead.
hubby's been out on the lash all weekend, and i am looking forward to being smug about his hangover.
have a healthy, peaceful day, all.

Aw, MTN - there's no rule saying thou shalt be cheery every minute luv. 24/7 cheeriness has been proven to be a crock; well, proven about 2 thousand years ago by various wise ancients.
Just keep on doing what you're doing, eh? Meantime, I have the outside light on for a very rare, in my case, delivery of Indian food!!! I so rarely do home delivery / take away food; but when I do, gee: a great treat.
Blessings to all from Aus :-)

Ooh enjoy your food. It's a good job it's morning here otherwise I'd be craving an Indian. Mmmm ok, so it appears it's never too early to crave a curry
What are you having? Go on, make me drool some more!
Arrghh. Can barely breathe - after all the Indian dinner! About to go to bed, in fact.
But for the droolers :-): I ordered a vast amount (the special) which most families order for one meal. For a single bod like me, this will keep me going for at least two or three more days without having to do interminable cooking. Hence, the sheer bloooooody looooxshury.
So it's 4 pieces pakora [spinach, cauliflower potato mix with herbs & chickpea flour, deep fried] ; 4 pieces Seekh kebab [minced lamb with herbs n spices rolled onto skewers and cooked in tandoori oven]; a container serve each of butter chicken and rogan josh; a large rice - but this is not just plain rice, this is apparently their lemon rice with mustard seeds, curry leaves etc; several pieces of fresh naan; a good sized container of super fresh raita; some pappadums; and two little containers of hardcore tamarind saucey stuff and a mint chutney.
Groan! Talk about a first world 'problem' heheh. This was all for 35 bucks Aus, delivered by a lovely Indian guy, no doubt part of the family. I'm still, after only 1.5 years here back in The City, a newbie to the area really. So, as in the city and its 'burbs, as in the country: one has to learn who's who - especially when it comes to a good Indian restaurant who also does home deliveries! This one seems pretty damn good MTN - I mean really good.
Salivate away, crew!

that sounds awesome, be!
physio was a bit of a waste of time. i broke my collarbone 3 yrs ago. had it plated, then it snapped again, then i had really low white cell count for a year so had to wait to get it refixed. had a bone graft from my pelvis, a plate, 7 screws and 2 wire stitches put in last april. it hasn't healed.
i'm now waiting for a referral to a specialist specialist, as my surgeon has attempted 2 fixes and it won't heal. and i need a new right knee (had major surgery on the left one about 3/4 yrs ago.
still, at least i'm sober!! i really wanted the physio to ask me if i drink as part of the questionnaire so i could respond with a lofty 'no' but it didn't come up.

Cripes ippo! Every time I believe that I'm some disabled old crock, in pain etc all the time....I then read / hear of stories like yours. And feel so humbled.
And I'm not even sober...unlike you. But I'm sure I will be, again, eventually.
But hey, great blessings and prayers from me to you, there in Suffolk (a few years ago, I did a bit of genealogy research, and discovered that my father's mother's mob came from Suffolk). There are strands of connections that we all have, eh. All over the world.
Hugs to ya.

I had a boozy dream last night. I was at a bar, pounding back whiskey. Most everybody was dressed in cammo of some sort. I looked in my pocket and counted $120 and debated whether to spend it on booze or the train ticket home...the booze won. Then I met a cute brunette and had a fish'n'chip dinner with her. Then we were naked and crawled into a huge clawfoot tub together.

Ouch sorry to hear things aren't so good for you ippo. I hope they can get your sorted once and for all with the specialist surgeon.
I've just had to laugh - you Vic with all that mountain of food being delivered and you cheapred with your fish n chip dinner - you got a cheap date
I've just had some home made Nandos for lunch. You guessed it - chicken marinaded in Nandos sauce and grilled!
I think my kids must be missing my hangovers as so many times I used to say, I can't be bothered cooking tonight shall we get an Indian? Yay! Oh well I'm sure we can still do it every so often - the food, not the hangover

Morning all! I hope everyone is well this morning.
My liver is one of the reasons I stopped drinking. I've been drinking for soooo long and I'm terrified of cirrhosis of the liver.
A minor whine:
So, I returned from an AA meeting Saturday morning and husband was doing some work for me which he NEVER does unless I ask (or basically end up yelling since he won't even do it when I ask nicely). I was so surprised. I thought he must really be putting forth effort to show his support for me going to AA and quitting drinking.
Then, I thought, hmmm....never has he behaved this way in 16 years. He only does this sort of thing when he wants something. So I asked him what he wants. He said nothing, that he was bored. I found it odd that he decided to do something he hates with a passion because he was bored, but I decided that it *could* be plausible.
Then he drops the bombshell on me yesterday that he wants a NEW CAR. UGHHHH. I have to approve this purchase since the brand new car we bought that he just wrecked is in my name, and the new car will need to be as well (and the down payment will be my money that I'm saving for taxes). Anyway, I was a little disappointed that he was only being helpful because he wants something rather than because he (finally) cares.
I'm going to try to let it go. You know, accepting the things I cannot change and all.
Oh and dreams - I keep having anxious AA meeting dreams. Not sure why....
