I am in a philosophical mood. So I thought I would pass this on. Says something about the folks on SR.

"The greatest degree of inner tranquility comes from the development of love and compassion. The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being."

Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama

Well Undies I have thouroughly enjoyed reading all your posts, so many.

Life's pretty hectic at the moment I have to try and reign things back in and slow down a bit.

I had a great morning of reading and meditation..I was just doing a little reflecting and taking inventory of my last 201 one days of uninterrupted sobriety.. And I won't bore you with the long drunk-a-log, but sum up the last year..

By the end, the last couple years of my drinking career, I was a very low bottom drunk.. I had lost all control of myself.. I was unemployable, couldn't control my bowels, a shaking mess...

And really only lived to drink, did go anywhere but the store and bar..

In the last 201 days of working my AA program.. I have ....

Had a spiritual experience
Found a Higher Power
Attended a 12 step retreat on Lake Erie in January (awesome) weekend...
Took a trip to Milwaukee for a week of their AA
Got a job and still have it, while I found a better one
Stayed a weekend at the Ritz Carlton and took a friend down to Dr. Bob's House and Grave.
Got to see a doctor and have a check-up and get healthy]
Went to the dentist several times which I had not done either doctors for 20 years
A handful of road trips to southern ohio for AA
Continue to go down to the detox facility to be there for the new guy

Just to name a few... Truly a miracle..!!!!!!!!!! And all of it can be washed away in one simple drink... For its the first drink that gets me drunk , not the 12th...

I wrote this to just show what this road of recovery can do, since we have a few people with 20-40 days.. Stay the course, its one day at a time..
