I'm PCL & I am a non practicing alcoholic.
I have been sober over a year & though my life is 150% better, I still have a few things to learn.
Living sober is quite humbling.
I hope to gain wisdom from you all.
Thanks!

The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made.

Welcome to the peanut gallery, PCL!

Welcome aboard PCL.....plenty of non practicing adults here

R&A.....ooohhhh, date day!

I am exhausted, stuck to the sofa and in the middle of watching the News and the film 21. Love Kevin Spacey, as an actor. Officially hit the wall is what I would say. Is there a smiley for that? Too tired to even look............. bahahahaha

Welcome PCL. It's great to have you here.

Today I did some minor jobs. I had to go the hardware store and by a masonry bit- I've got real issues about handyman work stemming from my father and brother finding it very easy- I have avoided it and not made it part of 'who I am'- but I need to get by. What I thought was an hour job putting up curtain rail took me ages.

Welcome PCL! And congrats on joining the club.

Nothing much going on with me. Watching my brother's dog for the week. I feel like I'm running an animal shelter with 3 cats and one dog. Fortunately everyone gets along. I must say, as much as I love dogs, having one in the city is a pain in the arse.

Hi PCL.
Went to a punk concert last night (I don't like punk) to shoot footage for a short news doc I'm making for school. My partner got a beer and when I looked down at it I had a physical urge to grab it and drink it. It was very fast but took me completely by surprise. I could taste it. Mind you, it was a big, frothy glass and when he came over he said "that's some good swill." But it still shocks me sometimes how close I can suddenly be to relapsing. I never, never would, but the fact that the thoughts are still there after almost 15 months is kind of disappointing.
Pip, about the dog in the city, tell me about it. All the early morning and before bed walks, argh. Rain or shine. Sometimes I look at him and think: "can't you walk yourself this one time?" But you know for all the joy and laughter he brings into our lives, it's a good trade.
I'm going to go into the lab at school today and get as much done on my film project as I can. I am NOT letting myself get behind this term. There is nothing worse than last minute, rushed work. There is so much editing to do, it's going to be pretty tedious, but I'm excited about this project.

Yeah Dee,
I represent that remark too!

IP,
I agree completely, it is a terrific trade!

Guys,
My pups can walk themselves, I have 5 acres and they know their boundaries. But in the country there are strays with diseases so years ago I got into the habit of walking my pups on a leash while full time RVing and when we came off the road continued. I guess it is perspective but I need the walks as much as they do! If they weren't here I'd stay in most days as it is either too hot half the year and too cold the rest fof the year with two weeks in Spring and Fall that are nice. I get a feel for the weather, and where the deer and other wildlife are feeding and bedding down. The only difference between being here and in town is they have a leash in town, they are trained off leash so is the same from their perspective. Be glad they walk you! Start acting like they do, look and smell and get curious with ant trails and greet every being that you come across. They do. We can too.

Today I upgrade my last two computers to Win 8. I already have done my laptop and HTPC, now the two main desktops. What takes me so long is I am using new drives so I can keep the old drive with Windows 7 if I want to go back for any reason. So far I really like 8. Takes hours to do system images just in case.

BTW,
The discount price of $39.99 ends on the 31st of January, then it goes up to $119.00 to upgrade. Also now there is a free media player which costs $9.99 extra later. If one bought their computers new with Windows between July and January 31st 2013, the price is only $14.99 for the Win 8 upgrade with free media center add on. 1 Feb all that goes away.

Just making sure no friends miss out that may have missed it.

IP that sort of thing is very unsettling. I suspect once we have had that sort of thing happen once or twice when you think you are really "solid" we will get used to it.

It is funny how intense and rapid those sorts of ideas/impulses arise, but also once we 'wake up' how rapidly it dissipates. I have come to the view that I do not have to think "what was I thinking" but accept that it happened (or happens) and remember that as long I as do not "do" anything because of ideas or feelings I will have time to reflect.

We are all works in progress. I am up doing some work on a project and I saved a file and dated it 2013- I had the idea that I have been pissed off about something / someone that happened in 2000!!!! LOL
