Hi All

I can't believe I haven't posted here in nearly a week ... soz about that but I have been reading here nearly every day.

We had a fun Halloween ... and today we gear up for Melbourne Cup Day and most importantly my Junior Touch team wants to win agame ... lucky they are champion hockey players or I 'd really be questioning my coaching skills at this stage LOL.

Haven't been tempted to drink at all which is a wierd feeling.

Went to a kids sport camp training day on the weekend and from what I could gather there was only one other person there that wasn't drinking in the arvo. My girls and I didn't camp so I had an hours drive home so it was easy to say "no" to the offered drinks....this group of people are highly respected and are always "responsible" drinkers.... the good thing was I was able to enjoy the day and was not stressed out about being around these people while they were drinking.. even though I had to offer bribes to get some boiled water for my herbal teas I actually had a relaxing fun day... I will be socialising with this group regularly and I am confident that it is not going to be as difficult as I thought it would be to establish myself as a "non-drinker" with them. I aim to camp next year.

I am still struggling a little with my motivation to do stuff that is not fun .... namely house work ... starting to think I might be just a lazy sober individual. I was going a lot better when I was able to train. I see my doctor on Monday and will discuss this with him

I am making a concerted effort to get my butt into a church on a Sunday night ... I am finding listening to Rheema radio ( a Christian station) is helping to shift my mind frame though.. I have a void that I know needs to be filled ... so I just have to do it.

Bugger the bell has gone

Will try and post later

Cheers
Jodie

Hi
Just popped in to see how you're all doing and to say goodnight.

That sounds good Steve, but just where do you put all that food? You must have hollow legs. It's better to feel sick from eating too much ice cream than to feel sick from too much booze. At least is doesn't give you a hangover.

See you all in the morning.

Sleep well and be careful out there.

Hi Jodie

We were posting at the same time. It's good to hear from you and it sounds as if you had a really good, productive weekend. You did brilliantly on the camp training day and it just proves that you don't need to be drinking alcohol to have a good time. I always say, don't worry too much about the housework, if it's anything like mine, it will still be there tomorrow. Life's too short.

I'm still here, checking in and reading posts. I'm not posting much these days as I am distracted and find it difficult to put anything down in words.

We're still early in the game..good job on fighting the AV, even if it meant a little slip.

Stay safe, sober and full of hope!

Slim

You're right, Slim. We are still early in the game. I get twinges from the AV almost every day. Thank God they have not been overwhelming. It's so good to be here where we can lean on each other.

Hi everyone,

Jodie you sound really good, what is an "arvo"? I'm with Grace on the housework thing. It stresses me out if things are too perfect!

Steve glad the AV took a flying leap. Yum, chinese food!

Slim it's good to see you, hope things settle down soon.

Nuway that is lovely.

Tomorrow is presidential election day here in the U.S. And some senators and whatnot also have their elections. We vote right at the church a block away.
Did my meditation this morning then went to the Lit. Council where I sat in on a very basic reading class then met my new "tutee". We meet again on Wednesday to start the tutoring. He is a young man with a developmental delay of some sort.
Sweetie likes her coat and it's fine without the hood which is gargantuan so off with the hood and problem solved. I did stop by the mall looking around at sheers and dust ruffles for the bedroom but haven't yet made up my mind. I ended up at goodwill getting a pair of brand new looking Ralph Lauren black velvety pants for $4. They are a little tight in the waist and my incentive to fit them by my birthday on the 29th of this month.
It's freezing here and the news is talking about a Nor'easter bringing snow on Wednesday.

Night all!

Good morning Augustians
It's blooming freezing here again and what's worse is the heating isn't working properly in work so it's cold in here too. I don't do cold very well, so I'm sat at my desk in my coat with my scarf wrapped round my neck.

firstly, Steve and myself are on day 80 today. Whoo hoo. High 5 Steve. Another 20 days and we will be in triple figures!! . I couldn't have done it without the constant understanding and support from of all you here.

Hi Slim, it's always good to hear from you and yes we are in the early days and constantly need to be aware of the evils of the A,V. Sorry to hear you're a bit distracted at the moment and hope it soon passes. Just pop in when you are able even if it's only to say 'hello!' xx

Hi Jodie, I've been luck so far in just mainly having twinges, but who knows what tomorrow my bring!! Vigilance at all times is required by me. xx

Hi Stairs, you always sound so positive. I've seen bits of the election build up on the news, who do you think will get through? The tutoring sounds really interesting, I wish I could do something like that. I bet Sweetie thinks she's the bees knees in her new coat and your new pants sound very sexy. Whit woo. xx

Morning Steve, have a good day, don't go hungry!

Night night Dee

Catch up with you all again a bit later.

Stay safe and sober
*****

Just for today I will appreciate having a job, a bed and food

Good morning guys. Bruce and I have 90 days. Can you believe it? It doesn't seem possible that we all joined this class 90 days ago let alone have been sober for 90 days. I am so excited and I am looking forward to many more sober days ahead.

I met with my sponsor last night. It was a good meeting. Just as I had been feeling pretty good about how I was doing, she put me in my place. I have been slacking on many things she as asked me to do and she called me out on it. It was a gentle reminder but one that was taken to heart. She's right and I need to not become complacent because I "feel" good right now.

The kids have the day off from school today. I am supposed to go into rehab but I think I am going to call out. I don't have anyone to watch the kids and I would like to spend some time with them.

Have a good sober day everyone.

Good morning everyone...have a wonderful sober day.

Congratulations Erica and Bruce on 90 days. Nearly in triple figures now you two. Woo hoo!
It's good to hear you sounding happier now Erica and it's good that you feel good too, but you're right, you can't afford to get complacent, none of us can, that's what happened to me last time. Have a good day with the kids. xx

Just a quickie

One of my old friends from when I was here two years ago has comeback today, Cottonwood Chris, we stayed in touch by email and he recently relapsed quite badly. He's not had a drink for a month now and is trying very hard, as we all are.

If any of you get a spare minute would you mind giving him a welcome, please? it will make his day.

Thank you

Congrats Erica and Bruce on 90days!!!! Erica, I do agree with Grace...your posts appear to be much more positive and relaxed.

Steve, keep hanging in there. The roller coaster ride is to be expected and you've done brilliantly.

Grace, I'll pop in to welcome Cottonwood Chris.

Election Day here in the States. I'll be heading out to vote in a bit.

Even though I live in an "uncontested" state where the outcome is taken for granted and thus we don't get slammed as much as those in the swing states, I am looking forward to the end of negative campaign ads, glossy mailers overflowing my mailbox, robocalls and pundits who disregard facts to support their bias. This young lady sums it up nicely:

One day at a time folks. Not just with sobriety, but life in general. We can appreciate things so much more if we live in the moment, not dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.

Hi Slim

good to see you here again, I hope the election goes well. May the best man win! I understand though why you'll be glad about the campaign promotions ending, they're such a nuisance. Unfortunately, I can't see your pic, but I should be able to see it at home later.

Thanks for giving C'Wood Chris a welcome, much appreciated.
