I think Jeni has it right Deserto...

I spent many years not wanting to disappoint people, not wanting to stand out, not caring about consequences, throwing blue faced tantrums ( even if they were inner tantrums) when faced with doing right

I was emotionally a child...even tho I was nearly 40, and I acted like a kid.
I ran headlong away from change for 20 years because it scared the bejeezus out of me

It took recovery for me to step back and realise that being an adult wasn't sucky or scary...it was actually cool...and darn it if it didn't fit me better too.

We all know what the right answer is when someone says lets grab a beer - even when its brothers...we all know it's nonsense when that voice says...go on...it's one night....you can pick it up again.

But... I reckon each of us has been through making at least one impulsive, panicked, tired....or just plain bad, decision in recovery...

I have no doubt you'll learn from this, grow from this, and make the right decisions next time Deserto.

Comes a point when you just get tired of running away from what you know you ultimately need to do, I think...yeah?

welcome back mate

Yep. Comes a point when you know it's more exhausting to run away, too.

FP, that just depresses me that it would be 90 days tomorrow.

Yeah, well shoot. I knew it was coming with my bro's visit. Knew it at day 60. What do you do when your older bro, USMC Afghan Iraq Somalia vet, says "we'll go drink a bunch of beers when I'm there?" Well when you're little brother Deserto you think (in paralyzed fashion), "Ok, sounds good. And I'll just get right back on the wagon after the visit."

So I guess it's time to get right back on the wagon. But man has the "stinkin' thinkin" taken hold again.

Argh. Still a little baby child within.”
Well, a hearty hallelujah and a huge “Welcome back!” hug that you’re finally with us again! Ain’t nobody here on this thread been trumpeting louder than your Mammoth partner to coax you out of your desert hideaway, my cherished and respected Dweller. Hard to miss my massive elephant girth that practically blocks out the desert sun.

Dump out the rest of your cactus juice and get seat-belted back in the May station wagon with us, Sober Sidewinder. Celebrate these past 90 days as part of your journey with bumps, potholes, and all. You’ve come too far to discount all of your hard work. I have the utmost faith in you that you can continue to do this with us, so stay close and hold on tightly. Love you, buddy!

Well darned if I don't know it, Pachyderm. That trumpeting dislodged a rockfall down in the canyon while I was sleeping. Good thing ol' Dweller had gotten up to relieve a little Cactus juice at that precise moment, or I'd have a chunk of sandstone pokin' out of my noggin.

Hey, KittyCat! Are you actually calling "shotgun" or are you going to let one of our Bodacious Boaters swoop in and snatch the seat?

I see Dweller's ego is safely intact. Not to worry, Jeni, his hat and spurs will be all you'll see, as Mammoth will lumber over valiantly to shield us from the rest.

I will politely refrain from commenting on this, seeing as we're in mixed pachyderm company.

Classic case of thinly veiled trunk envy. Fear not, Desert Dawg. I will holster accordingly.
