Thanks for checking in INH and Jobei! We were getting lonely on this thread!

I hope the move back home helps INH. It can't hurt. I wouldn't rule out an AA meeting even if you are still on the AVRT route. I went to a meeting yesterday and basically felt like I heard exactly what I needed at that time. At least that stuff will be there if you need it. Support from other people can only help. Thanks so much for letting us know how you're doing!

Good luck with your date Job! Armed with your newfound love of shopping you will be the perfect man! Enjoy yourself. I'm still on the non dating front and have been loving it so much that I think I've even persuaded my best friend to join me. I'm not sure he's convinced yet though! I will be no good at advice (I'm not your typical girl so I don't know what they like either!) but I love gossip...let us know how you get on

Yes I think it is... It is questionable as far as a carrer choice but I think having better odds of getting over this is more important than my carrer options at present.

Have a good day all.

Yes INH, reckon the time has come to make major life-changing decisions for you.
Things as they are haven't helped you.
Maybe it's time to put your career on the back-burner for a while...we all want this so much for you, you deserve it xx

That's ace R4R! Glad you're doing well x

Totally agree INH. Tbh I'd see getting sober as concentrating on your career though. I know for me I was limiting what I could do at work with the shaky hands caused by drinking. Drinking is just not good for anyone's career x

So I went on my first date WITHOUT any alcohol involved since I was around 15 years old... boy was it different. I could actually FEEL all the emotions... nervousness, excitement, joy, anticipation. It was quite a new experience for me. I was a little bit apprehensive about whether or not to offer her a cocktail as it's a pretty common thing to do. It was so nice when she just ordered and soda and I did as well... alcohol never even came up in the date at all... I never thought that would be possible. We ate dinner in an old "pub" like restaurant that had a live jazz quartet playing classics and sat at a candlelit table. I tried (and succeded I think?) to be a perfect gentleman and any akward feelings we had melted away pretty quickly. We took a stroll at sunset through a very old 1700's era village and sat by a duck pond and got "closer" to one another... I asked if I could kiss her and she said yes... it was all very romantic. I can't express how great it feels to experience all this for REAL -- without the hindering effects of alcohol clouding it. I am truly grateful to be sober today.

In the past my emotions would now be racing at a mile a minute. I'd be full of panic and insecurity of whether or not she was interested in me or just playing with my emotions. It was always very hard to handle my emotions when I was drinking. It's so much different now... I'm calm, relaxed... happy?!? Just taking it all in with a sense of confidence and willingness to continue on with this woman. It's no wonder that dating was so hard before... alcohol really does rob you of everything.

I hope that you are all doing well today and thanks for being here for me.

God bless!

Oh Job....WOW!!!
I am so so happy for you. Yes, alcohol robs us of all those feelings that made last night so wonderful for you. That read just like a romantic novel!!
And that was just the start! God I've hot a lump in my throat just thinking on you embarking on this new relationship, thanks for keeping your sisters in the loop!!
She's a very lucky girl to have met you.
What a way you've come my friend xxxxx

I have no idea. At the latest it will be Late September Early October, it could be earlier though they still have to figure out where they are going to send me.

It will be nice to be able to go to a movie or get a good cup of coffee again...hmmmm Starbucks. That and I still don't have a decent computer but if I get home it will take me a saturday afternoon and one trip to best buy to have my baby up and running again.

How's life treating you INH? Do you feel more hopeful that once you get home, you will be able to get a handle on this sobriety business?x

Yeah that is the one of the main reasons that i wanted to go back to the states. There are a whole lot more options for me in this aspect you know AA, therepy, rehab if necessary way more options and help. To top it off I won't be living in a house that has a bar, not that that stopped me before.

I'd imagine that it's just very unsettling to be away from a familiar environment too INH. Do you have a plan for when you get back, like what to try first? x
