Welcome, Thursday Night! The non-alcoholic drink aisle of the store is like exploring a whole new world, isn't it?

Hello Zencat -- all the cool kids hang out in this class. Welcome.

I enjoyed the discussion about androgynous/cross-dressing avatars. I thought that Flicked was a guy too, until she said something about someone asking if she was pregnant because she wasn't drinking. In case anyone is wondering, I'm not actually a pink alien looking thing.

Sooooo ... the weekend is here. I don't think I'll be too tempted to drink, but even if I am really tempted, even if everything goes wrong and I feel worn down and desperate for the numbing effect of alcohol, I will not drink. I'll just ride it out, no matter what. I can do this.

What day am I on now? Day 6? Yeah, that's it. Okay, bring it on, day 6.

I'm not telling anybody in the real world about this...they'll think I'm drunk.
Message to all newbies: I PROMISE we're sober.

It's a question I've secretly wondered till now.
If we knew would we treat the mammoth the same?
Or are we destined to wonder, as when faced with a name
like Courtney, like Casey, like Mason or Evan?
Such mysteries! They haunt me on Day 27.

P.S. Extra peanuts for working in "amour" the other day, FP!
Okay...FP and Deserto need to open their OWN advertising agency. Can you see it?

How's everybody doing? I'm aware that I post at a completely different time to everyone else. I think you probably all need to emigrate to the UK so we can co-ordinate timings a bit better?!
I'm doing ok. I've had 13 sober days now, it was 2 weeks ago that I had my meltdown and I'm never going back there again!!
Going to start working the AA steps tonight with my sponsor and am ready to move forward with this now. Are any of you with AA?
Have a good Friday everyone and stay sober xxx
Hey there, Jen! My husband is British, so we can pack up and move over there easily. Then we can be time zone buddies. It's getting so hot in Houston, the idea of moving anywhere north sounds really appealing. Oh well, one can dream.

13 days -- you've come so far! Congratulations and keep it up.

And welcome Tnight also and a giant congrats on 30 days!!!

I want to say a whopping THANK YOU to everyone for your sympathy concerning my ex. When I lost it at about 11:30 (again) last night, I realized that I've been on a real emotional rollercoaster not just since he died, but for the past 4 weeks of sobriety... and WHAM then I remembered that crazy emotions are part of the PAWS (post anxiety withdrawal syndrome) list of things you brain can put you through in the weeks, and much more likely, months, after getting sober.
Post Acute Withdrawl - Relapse Prevention Specialists - TLC The Living Center
So perhaps I'm not losing my marbles. This is normal. I thought all I was experiencing was the forgetfulness...forgetting words when writing/talking and so on, but it appears I'm a much more vulnerable person than I thought!

We've all come so far in this past month or so, and it's great to re-read the early entries, not just as a reminder of what it was like and where we were then, but to go through the entries and see how the content has changed. I think of Payton and Flicked especially...I can see your growth, changes and mindsets really changing through your writing, and it's inspiring.

And to our newer folks, like Saskia, I'm so glad you're here because in our few short weeks of sobriety it's great for us to be able to actually help others. I always thought I'd have to have at least a year sober before I could be part of someone's solution and do any "helping" of any sort.

I really love SR. All of y'all have been such an integral part of my staying sober and the new mindset I have towards recovery. I can't WAIT to tell my shrink about SR next week. She's been on my tail for not wanting to go to a "meeting"' of any sort. I think SR is a fine substitute, for me.

And for the record...I am not a tree. But I am looking at a fine old pair of magnolias as I write every day on SR.

Good Morning All,

Welcome Thursnight and Will. Will - I love your posts and your kind support You mentioned that you have had significant amounts of sobriety. How long have they been? For me, the longest period has been three months. But, this was a pretty long time ago and I was doing it on my own. So, I tell myself that I did 3 months on my own, imagine what I can accomplish with support! Jeni - I am doing AA also. I have signed up for service work in an effort to get more involved and meet people. I am pretty socially awkward, but am hoping this will improve with time. Wishing everyone a happy sober Friday!

Hi everyone a quick check in becuase I'm still on holidays.

Im 28 days sober. The big party is tomorrow. I'm ready not to drink. I've been anxious today about the past and drunken memories but I'm trying to work through it.

I'm proud of everyone's achievement so far!

Good Friday morning, May boaters! A huge Class of May welcome to all new joiners! You are in one of the best classes on SR. Big cheers for the weekend. Here's to all making it through with sober flying colors.

What price to pay
for a small stray?
Just one drink, okay?
Disastrous replay.
The Beast to slay
this 27th day.

You know we've got this covered, lyrical lambaster.

Speaking of, it's close to that time again with only a handful of posts to go. I'm thinking that Shotgunning Saguaro, our respected Cactus Cruncher, is pining and poised for Part 4 passenger seat prominence. Save a spot on the back bench for me, boaters. No time for station wagon square dancing as it's off to work.

Stay strong, everyone. Full-trigger Friday looms... only if you let it. Make sure to have a few backup plans to curb your urges. So many wonderful posts to comment on. I'll be looking for you later today. Have a great one.
