Its been a hectic past few days. My BFF went into the hospital with a serious infection, initially an antibody resistant bacteria, but finally responded to treatment and she is home. Wow, infections are going around my circle of friends...OMG, crazy stuff.
Anywho, I've been doing well on the sober front, so that's working out even if bad ole bacteria tried to eat my face...yikes...I don't want to go through that again.

Getting organized for camping. My single burner Coleman stove and my inverter came yesterday and I picked up a 5" square cast iron skillet. I tried the skillet out on the kitchen stove yesterday - grilled cheese and a hot dog. It worked great. I'm going to light the Coleman today and test the inverter to make sure they both work as expected. Still want to pick up a small (1 qt) cast iron pot with lid. Can't seem to find any that size though I did find a 3/4 qt one. It's raining so no outside work. Going to cook beef stew for dinner. Right now though, I'm headed to the gym.
Stove and inverter work great. The tiny cast iron skillet (5" square) worked great on a bagle. Cut & butter it and cook it butter side down and it comes out toasted to perfection. Having fun preparing what I need to camp.
Found a 1 qt dutch oven with nice lid & a flat bottom (no legs) on line and ordered it. Now all I need to do is put together some cooking utensils and silverware from what we've got laying around and my cooking kit for camping is ready.
Raining today so I'll be inside puttering.

Today is my Dad's 91st birthday. My Sister & Sister-in-Law are taking him to the Racino to have the buffet and play the penny slots for a while. Then we are all getting together to share a meal and celebrate with him. Were I still drinking I would get there late, grab something to eat and book as soon as it was possible. So glad that I can relax and stay till the end because I'm not chomping at the bit to get home and hit the bottle. So many benifits to not drinking.
Pop spent 6 hours in the casino. Not something I could do. We had a good gathering and of course, I ate too much (food was good) and then had desert (which I should have skipped). Came home feeling bloated. Much better than drunk though. Lazy day today. Gym and a meeting with only a couple of light chores.

Hope to see you around here at SR Charon. Maybe join a more active/supportive daily check-in class.
I'm having an awful run of physical health and have been so mentally scattered I just cant keep up with all I've been doing in the past. Still doing well on the recovery stage.
