7 Days

Time to throw my 7 days into the ring and join The Marchers :)

I've been down this road too many times to count but I feel great today, and I what to thank all the mentors I met in rehad, at AA and now on this site who have years of sobriety but keep reaching out to those of us just starting.

Your help and guidance is beyond words :)

Welcome back Eliasson! And welcome to RevivingOphelia, VJ99, and anyone else who just joined!

Finishing up day 20 here. Woo-hoo! We have had friends visiting since Wednesday and had a wonderful time with them (sober!). Everyone left a little while ago, so now it's time for a nice, relaxing evening in front of the boob tube and then off to bed. It was great to be able to entertain for the first time without alcohol being part of the agenda; two of our friends don't drink at all, and the other are occasional drinkers who abstained because they know hubby and I are sober. We are so blessed to have all of these folks in our lives.

I did catch a bad cold/bronchitis a couple of days ago so I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to sleep tonight without my nose clogging up and waking myself up coughing. I did buy some Advil nighttime cold medicine (avoided the Nyquil!) so if there's nothing bad in the ingredients I may take that tonight. I don't mind being sick though ... I'm just grateful to be sober today. :D

Let's start the weekend on the right foot, Marchers! Onward and upward!

I decided that I wanted to try moderation...I don't like it

Did 6 days with only one anxiety attack on Friday which I made it thru. Then I decided that I would have a couple beers on saturday, which i did successfuly...having 4 beers then going to bed. I must say that after just one beer I started to feel fuzzy...weird. I guess it's been so long that I didn't have anything to compare it to until I went without for a few days. Well today should have been a no drink day in my "moderation" mind yet I am sitting alone watching basketball drinking my 7th beer...very familiar unfortunately.

I have decided that I can't find the benefit, even in moderation to drink alcohol. So I think I'm truly done. It feels strange to drink now..can'tj quite explain it but not getting the "high" that I used to. Pouring out my beer and calling it a day...gues it's a new day one, but still in march !! :)
