PBC...THINK OF CHICKENS. Works for me.
Rosie- You are right. That is a HUGE benefit of being sober and one of the main reasons I will stay in this strange world of sobriety.
frances- main sounds delightful. If it were not so far I would drive up. I need a place to hunker down and get rid of this funk. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. Although the no furniture thing might be a little uncomfortable.
mirage- Did you say swimming. Even us Floridians dont swim in the winter. What is up with that?
aussie- doe you think those cucumbers your dog is sporting would help me feel better?
Dee Hold down the fort. I am going on the NyQuil express.

good night/day all
Dave

Never seen snow! I had you get to see it Aussie and feel it, it's quiet and cold and magical and sparkly in moonlight

You'll sing wonderfully pbc, just think of laughter

Feel better Dave. Maine is freezing WO you say south.

Rosie I appreciate your awareness and insights and I hope you feel better too.

Nite dee and Dave and lofty and mirage!

To bed! 10 miles in the morning

Rosie, I'm sure there will be MANY pictures. Are you on fb? I'll work on picturing chickens when I sing that song, too, Dave. I've honestly never tried that. Here it is, if anyone would like to read the lyrics:
Valentine’s Song for my Girls

Courtney’s verse:
F C
Little bouncing curls skipping up and down the hall
F C
Wacky Wednesday, apple-picking, artwork on the wall
Bb C
Twirly skirts, prom night
F C
Do you remember when we snuggled late into the night?
F C
We cried a little, laughed a little, held each other tight
Bb C Bb C
And now you’re twenty ….

(Chorus)
Dm C
I remember boat rides and blueberries, dress-ups and phones
Dm C
Dancing to the music and making our own
Bb C Dm
Dutch costumes, movies under blankets so warm
Bb C Dm
Rocking you to sleep when you still fit in my arms
Bb C Dm
The hair drawer doesn’t hold little bows anymore
Bb C Bb F
But I thank God for the ones that you wore

Danielle’s verse:
F C
Hazel eyes so big and round, captivating mine
F C
A tender heart for little creatures, courage like a lion
Bb C
Libby Lu, sofa flips
F C
Do you remember when you were my little Angel Pie?
F C
I thought my heart would shatter if I ever saw you cry
Bb C Bb C
And now you’re fifteen ….
(Chorus)

Jamie’s verse:
F C
Standing by your room at night, I listened to you pray
F C
That little voice, thumb in mouth, giving God your day
Bb C
Bedtime songs, friends to play
F C
Do you remember all the times we read your favorite books?
F C
Funny voices, giggles, snuggles, “Halloween House” looks
Bb C Bb C Bb C Bb C
And now you’re eleven ….

(Chorus, up an octave)
Bb C Bb Dm
But I thank God for the ones that you wore
Bb
I know that I don’t get to keep you
Bb C Bb F
I know God loved me when He lent me you

Aussie, Frances's description of snow is perfect. There's an old poem by Robert Frost that describes it well, too, I think. It's called Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening. I love that poem.

Good morning!

I love your song PBC!

Sorry that my last message was so garbley. I was in bed and dozing off.

The Frost poem is a favorite of mine too:
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep.
And miles to go before I sleep.

Have a good day/evening, and hope all are well.

Aussie, meant to say that I hope your party plans go well and that you get to enjoy seeing old friends.

PBC, your song is amazing!!! What a lovely family you have! What beautiful memories you will all have
Yes, I am barely on FB.

This is an archival reading BY Robert Frost, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening : Poetry Everywhere : Video : The Poetry Foundation
how cool! I had no idea these archives existed.

Much as I love the above poem, my favorite by Frost is The Road Not Taken, it just has resonated throughout my life, and even serves almost as a theme for my SR journey as well.

The Road Not Taken
By Robert Frost
1874–1963

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Here is some interesting, heretofore unbeknownst to me, background on The Road Not Taken:

whose DH left an hour ago and am enjoying the blissful quiet!
Also, less pain today and feel a bit stronger!!!

I love that one, too, Rosie! He is probably my favorite poet. So poignant. I'm on my way to church right now, but I'll check out that background story later. Thank you!

Aussie, I changed my avatar for you. This is our house after a particularly pretty snow last year.

How was your long run today, Frances? I was grocery shopping this morning and picked up a running calendar and thought of you. Then, when I flipped it to the second month, there was that same quote from Frost's poem that you put up there ^^. Small world.

Hugs to you all!

Just lovely and I'm so happy that you feel a bit better today Rosie!

The run was great. 10 miles. We all had heavy legs (means tired from working out this week) but when I downloaded the times from my GPS watch, we were under our target pace. So cool about that running calendar and the synchronicity. Met up with girlfriends for breakfast who were running different distances, so it was fun to compare notes.

Husband left this morning for three days in San Diego. I am making plans to be happy, social and productive.

Laundry! Reboot the house! Have a great day everyone!

Still gettin my butt whooped by this funk.
PBC no wonder you cried when you sand those words about your loved ones.
No chicken could stop those from flowing.
Beautiful words from your heart! There is no greater gift.
Rosie- thank you for posting Mr. Frosts poem. I have not sat and reflected on his word in many years.....they bring a tear to my eye as a smile slides across my face.
frances- awesome on the running times. I love the reboot the house reference. I will have to borrow that one.
Aussie- The cucumbers havent worked yet....I keep eating them.

Please let me feel better when I wake up!
Dave

Dave, Jim is sick now, too. Yuck. And thank you for understanding how much those words meant to me. I posted a video of the song on my fb tonight (as well as lots of pictures) ... the girls all cried, too, which was evidence to me that they "got" it. I love them soooooo much.

We had a really, really wonderful night. Dinner was delicious, the conversation was full of meaning and laughter, everyone looked and FELT beautiful and cherished.

Good night, Marchers.

Outstanding PBC!!! That sounds like a wonderful evening.
Mirage- It was in the low 30's upper 20's last night. Last week the lows were in the 50's and highs in the 70's which we will return to this week. No wonder I cant get better. I am alternating between running my A/C and heater. I am ready for spring to get here. Part of the problem is that pollen is already starting to fall everywhere and half of the spring bloomers are in full bloom. Everything is confused. I have to think that this somehow correlates with me not drinking. All of nature is confused.

Way to confuse the world with your sobriety.

Marchers are the reason for this GREAT warm winter??? Wait 'til Al Gore hears this! (he's the global warming dude, right? ... seriously ... is he?)

Mirage, I am SOOOOO jealous! Have FUN down south and get some tan for me, too! How long will you be there?

Thanks, Frances!!! I think my family is pretty awesome, too. In fact, I'm crazy about them. And I was really happy with how the song turned out. The melody ended up really different than I'd imagined, and I like it better than I thought I would. Are you having a happy, social, and productive day?
