Was just thinking about how my mindset has changed over the last 20 (+ or -) months.

Finally learned enough about running a propane supply for a range coming next week, that I was able to get the supplies today from Lowes. The reluctance and pessimism I've heard from folks would've derailed me the first 10 minutes; ...back when I was a drinker.

Several times I was almost derailed !?!

I guess the Propane service guys have a reason to keep it all soooo mysterious though.


They have a great joke about the guy who decided to skydive without any instructional training.

On his way down , he pulls the ripcord. Nothing.
He pulls the backup ripcord. Nothing.

On the way to the ground, he passes a guy on the way up and ask; "you know anything about parachutes ? "



The guy hollars back; "No,.......... you know anything about gas stoves ? "

Hi April 2010,

Whoever is still here?

Feels like a desert wasteland since April 2010 but the internet can be a desert or an
oasis depends on the viewer.


Personally, I am living a picture of Hell right about now. My company went out of business in early February, wife is due August first baby. Life is really sad for me
recently. I have experienced a lot more Hard things in the past. But my life is on the
line here and things are so difficult now. Everyday I have to make choices that shape
my life and my family indefinitely and I`m forced to make the decisions...sometimes

Sorry to hear about your co. going down last month.

It's a huge benefit you are able to make choices without the crazy fog of drinking, anyway.
I made my absolute worst choices back then !?!

Are y'all considering relocating ?

I'm sorry to hear about your job UBM. Times are tough right now for a lot of people.

The main thing recovery has taught me tho is to never give up and have faith things will be ok - I'm sure you can find your feet again

Man your right better to deal with life HEAD ON without being under the fog
of sake and Dee yo I never tire of the mantra *never give up, always try your best. Those mantras rule my life for a long time now.

Not thinking of relocating but previously intended to buy the company with
a good chance but another company bought it.

Now things are up in the air, new company *staff head hunter
tried to buy it after me and every teacher threatened to quit
with no teacher in the bargain this company is probably heading
south come thursday which will put me back in the running or
atleast persuade previous owner to continue as owner or
cut some others loose so he can make profit.


No way I could function this situation if I was in my previous state
prior to 4.2010.

Keep it real HONEST, that is something I've learned recently
be super honest with people despite the consequences
and life may not be perfect but it will sustain. Honesty has power.
People respect it. I get enjoyment out of honesty as I did Alcohol
same enjoyment. I think maybe I drank because I had too as penalty for not being honest and I was not honest because I was afraid to tell the truth
or hurt someone's feelings. It was a side effect of not being genuine.

I am just getting nostalgic remembering joining SR about two years ago. Who would have thought I would become the back bone of the site in such a short amount of time? The key, that has been instrumental to SR's success. Sarcasm y'all! Well...just about the later part...not about the nostalgia.

Yeah...I don't know, was surprised my post was so late too. I joined SR a couple weeks after my quit date, but don't know why it was so long for me to post in the April Thread. I do remember seeing it, and not really getting what it was, then figuring it out and posting. I was much more timid bout posting back then. That was such a magical time...really. Thinking I had fixed everything and could change anything.

Yeah...that's what I was trying to say. Hope to hear from some of em.

Oh yeah...thanks for the compliment bout the Fitness section. You got me into that Thread, and got me trying new things. So I have you to thank. Coffee is the leader of that Thread...IMHO.
