BOOM! First post! haha.

We actually have a couple boxes of Girl Scout cookies at our house we bought from my niece. They are good, but I just have to not eat them for a couple more weeks. And hopefully never again. This program is designed to make you re-think your food cravings and be able to look at food as energy instead of a reward, etc.

So we will see. haha. How was everyone's weekend? Busy weekend as usual. Not sure how I ever had time to drink all weekend before I got sober. Full of running errands, went to the circus, did some yard work, etc. Oh, and I bought some new golf shoes and got my golf bag all organized and ready to hit the course. As soon as it opens for the season I will be there.

BOOM...you are first!

This morning is the first morning I have felt like myself. So, glad to be feeling better.

Some of the medication didn't sit right with me, made me antsy and anxious. I never feel that way anymore, since I quit drinking.

I am leaving Friday to visit my Mom for her birthday. It has been about 16 months since I have been back to NY. Incidentally, I "slipped" after I got back from my visit last year.It is interesting to look back on it all now...

Hoping everyone has a good week. Sunny, warm and breezy here today...spring is here!

Well, I would be willing to bet you won't "slip" this time Anew. You are living proof this program works and you live it every day. Have a great trip.

I was thinking we were getting close to starting a new thread. We're slowing done a bit, but still 12 threads seems kind of impressive for a "monthly class."

The weather has suddenly gotten better here, I played a tennis outside Sunday and it was 84 degrees. That was unusual but we should still be in the 60's most of the week.

I went to the church service for the guy I knew in AA who was shot by the police. I mentioned that I thought he was quite depressed and might have wanted the police to shoot him. When the police arrived at his house, he was apparently drinking (of course) and made some threats to the police with a kitchen knife. I don't know what happened, but they ended up using deadly force because the taser didn't effect him. A probation officer in AA who knew him told me he was wearing 4 coats, that's why the taser didn't work. Sad, alcohol caused him to lose so much. He used to be a paramedic and a firemen.

Glad the weather is shaping up for you Zebra. It is supposed to be 64 here today, but then sharply colder the rest of the week starting tomorrow. They are even saying a possibility of SNOW again here in a couple days. Not much, but a light covering. Man, this winter weather just refuses to leave us. So all of you with beautiful weather, get out and enjoy it.

Otherwise, all is well here. I didn't get to ANY AA meetings last week, so it has been a week and a half since I have been to one. And I can tell. I am hitting one tonight. My work schedule took me out of town during my regular meetings last week. I am not worried about drinking, but I can just tell my overall state of mind is a little off and I need my "dose" of AA.

That is so sad about the guy who was killed. Just a shame.

Hi all..

Yes, our posts have slowed down some, but, I am still impressed and inspired by this group.

We had some wicked storms pass thru here last night. I was glad though, as the rain seems to have settled down all of our pollen.

My son called last night, he got a partial scholarship he applied for, which is great news. He has been on the deans list the past 6 semesters, so, it is nice to see that had an unexpected dividend.

More snow expected for us today and tomorrow. They are saying 4-5 inches. This winter will just not go away! It was 71 degrees two days ago, and now more snow. This sucks! haha.

But even snow is better than drinking.

Snow in mid April sucks. It will probably melt in 48 hours or so, right?

Yeah, it shouldn't last long. It's just the principal of it. Snow for seven months really starts to wear on a guy. I just want to golf!

Have a great weekend everyone.

I have a doubles tennis match tomorrow with my team. The team already played the #2 team from this club and lost, tomorrow we play the #1 team. I'm trying to be optimistic.

Goo luck Zebra. Just remember that power beats accuracy every time! haha. Just close your eyes and swing for the fences. Throw form and public safety out the window.

Thanks for the wishes of good luck guys, but our doubles match is over and we lost 6-3, 6 -3. I played really well so I'm happy. In fact, after one particularly good shot I actually got applause from a few of the people watching the match.

The team we played however was way better than us, and I told my partner that there is no shame in losing to these guys. Thay are at a completely different level. It was fun though.

My wife asked me if I wanted to buy a ball machine. Hmmm, asking me if I want to buy a new toy . . . , let me think . . .

(with the money I've saved not buying alcohol I could probably rationalize this)

Congrats either way Zebra. And heck yes to a ball machine. Good way to work on your strokes as I am sure you know.

bdiddy, we got your snow! You were supposed to keep it!

It's less than an inch, but still this is ridiculous. But I have gratitude that our weather isn't severe like some other areas of the country this weekend.

That is very true Zebra. Way to look at it positively. We got another inch last night too. Nothing stuck to the roads, but the grass is white. And it melts by noon. But after seven months with snow, I am just ready for some heat.
