Okay, so I've never met any of you in person but I have figured out who each one is...From left to right.

1. Hydrogirl - I can tell by the feather boa.
2. Well, it looks a lot like Ann's hair but with no bra, I'm gonna have to say least.
3. No mistaking HumbleBee Hair!
4. Fandy has the wooden clackers.
5. Hevyn has the tambourine.
6. That must by Newby in the long white gloves.

How did I do? :rotfxko

I saw a report last night said that said that each of us have a "minute" amount of radiation in our [USA] bodies from Chernobyl...and that was from Russia back in 1986!

If a tsunami can travel to the west coast from Japan, why not radiation (especially)?

The radiation levels there are def not harmless...the people they have "manning" the reactors are said to be on a suicide mission given the amount of radiation they're being exposed to.

I can't imagine it.

i agree...this is a big time problem. i watched on the news today just how many people are at the airport leaving...or more bluntly evacuating.

I'm heartsick for the Japanese, & wasn't referring to their tragedy or radiation levels there!

I had heard from several different sources that any radioactive cloud reaching our west coast would most likely not cause health problems.

So Nikko's eye is not as red anymore?

No, the cataract is still reddish-pink, it's that the pressure is decreasing in that eye. I'm elated!!

I've noticed side effects from both the eye drops and the pills: he seems to be quite sluggish. Looked up the side effects and three are mentioned: drowsiness, dizziness, and fatigue. I'd say he's got it. But not bad enough to discontinue the meds, nosirree, not when they're helping his eye.

I am soooo not keeping up with the class as far as posting, but this is one of my favourite threads to check in with!

Yay for Nikko, least.

I am also heartsick for what is happening in Japan. The people there seem to be dealing with it with more stoicism and grace than many...no stories about looting, people with intact homes in unaffected areas are opening their homes to displaced people, the government appears to be doing their best and in a very organized fashion too.

We're all exposed to low levels of radiation daily and it's not harmful (and in some cases may be beneficial) according to talking heads I've been listening to all week on NPR at work...I really don't think the fallout is going to affect a really wide area, or the US. I hope not anyway.

It appears that the people working on or near the reactors to keep them cooled down are genuine heroes.

Oh my Got! I am laughing my butt off between every other post here! Feeling bad about the radioactive dilemma and rolling about Ann & the Whinettes.

Hugger you nailed it. A+ #2 is Ann with the biggest hair to be closer to God. Would have put the hair from the image she posted earlier but already had it together and ready to put up. Needed to get back to "real" work

Humblebee you look lovely without makeup

Glad you all got a kick out of it. Made my day.

No whines just love xoxoxo and prayers for everyone effected by what's now a global tradgedy.

Bubba works at a nuclear power plant so I know a little about this and can maybe put it in perspective...with all due respect and deep sympathy (and prayers) for those in Japan.

Exposure to radiation doesn't stay in your body. If a person was exposed today, they could be clean of it in 30 days? 60 days? depending on how much they got.

The workers there, and here, are monitored every moment they are in the plant so it is known when they are exposed and how much. The risk stays localized mostly. It will not drift across the ocean to the west coast, as some news sources speculated. It won't even affect most of Japan.

Bubba has worked in this industry for many years on many projects. An airline pilot over the same time would have been exposed to about the same level of contamination just flying.

It's not a good thing, but to be in harms way one would need heavy exposure or exposure over a long period of time.

That's not to say there isn't danger, it's just not as scary as the news reports. I fault them for bad reporting when they know better. I have seen engineers and nuclear specialists interviewed on a news program and then moments later the same commentator who did the interview will say something that contradicts all that they have been told.

That said, my prayers go out every day for those poor people who have been through so much.

Ann - Thanks for the info. The news here is reporting that radiation has been detected in Sacramento, CA from Japan at a low level. There is a complicated explanation as to how "they" know it is radiation from Japan, but are also saying that it is at low levels. I guess I can stop continually looking out the window for glowing snow. I'm about 90 miles east of Sac at the top of the Sierras.

Excellent news about Nikko, least. I'm thrilled for you!

Patte - Your hubby sounds like my youngest son. He will call me from college, ask a question, interrupt after I have maybe two words out, answer the question AND tell me that I am wrong. You have a lovely day too, dear!

Love the pic of Ann and the Whinettes. Would love to order an autographed copy ASAP.

Still waiting for my first Robin here. That is always my signal that spring has sprung. Maybe the Tahoe Robins are in the Bahama's with bleep, bleep Phil!
