Whiners Anonymous Part 51
I just sent off an angry, tho very polite and diplomatic, letter to the drug company that makes Nikko's insulin, asking them why can't I get it from the UK suppliers, since it's distributed over there under a different name but the same insulin. I addressed the letter directly to the Director of animal technical services, and opened the letter by asking that it not be passed off to a secretary for a 'form letter' response.
I am on my last vial of Vetsulin and will run out in a month. My vet ordered more from their (being discontinued) critical need program, but don't know how many they'll get, if they get any at all. I am furious at the company's just 'throwing us under the bus', so to speak, and told them so.
What makes me so mad is that Vetsulin is only discontinued in the USA, not in Europe!! I even gave my cell number on the off chance that this Director is a gentleman and might call me to assuage my fears.
I hope to get a 'real' response soon. I am feeling desperate over having to switch him to an inferior (ie, not dog-specific) insulin, afraid that if his sugar spikes again, like it used to, that he'll lose what little vision he has left.

Happy Birthday to me!
Today is my 39th birthday. 73 days sober Yay!
Now for the whining:
Yesterday my fiance drove me to the stores to buy birthday presents for our daughter who is turning 4. I have an elderly friend who gave both her and I some money for our birthdays, so I spent it all on my baby girl, as I knew her dad would not offer to contribute other than the ride to the store. So, I'm picking out her birthday card and he starts looking for one for me, right next to me. I glance over and he's checking out several "For Someone Special" cards. At least he bothered at all right? But romance wise, it might as well have said "To Whom It May Concern" On the way home I had him stop at the market so I could get cupcakes and a lemon meringue pie. Cupcakes for the family and the pie for me. I do this every year because I would otherwise have no "birthday cake". So this morning, my b-day & v-day, I give him a card and a box of chocolates. He says happy b-day and v-day then goes to work. I will not see him again until 6:30 tonight after my alcohol class. Didn't give me any card or anything. Guess I'll get it tonight. Just kinda bummed that I mean so little to him. On the bright side, I've gotten lots of b-day wishes on FaceBook! I am thankful for my friends and loved ones, I am very blessed even if I am not so precious to him. Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Whiners - will you be my Valentine? Could not ask for a better bunch of friends!
Nikkle - I had a 39th birthday - once *sigh*. Hope it has been a happy one, & I'm sorry BF didn't come through for you early in the day. Congrats on 73 sober days, too.
Least - I hope you get a prompt answer from the Vetsulin people. Isn't there another doggie insulin?
Fandy - Did you get the lovely, 60-ish weather that we did today? Back in the 40's tomorrow, though.

Well, I started the day out pretty much in a thankful mood, since this seems to be the week that we are in a February lull (when it goes above freezing and you take notice of how the days look longer and all that comforting stuff). But the wind eradicates any warmth to it, so that it might as well be 20 degrees colder.
