Cat.....
A lot of us share in various threads but don't be concerned
rants and vents are perfectly acceptable here too.

I too often had bad experiences with roomates
Sorry to know you got stuck with the cable bill

I'm hopeing the deal with the guy ...Yes, I went to
Whiners to catch up....can be worked out to your benefit.
One of my more positive experiences with a roomie
was when a gay man and I shared a place.

Joe did dress in drag for special parties We shared
purces and jewelry sometimes. He was fun to live with
and obviously....there was no sexual attractiom to worry about.

Cat....you are zipping right along...

I sure hope you will soon stop making harmful choices.

Hey Ruby - thanks for being honest but that was not a good choice. Have you ever had a DUI? How about FOUR of them? That's why my life is a mess right now and have lost a lot over the years and it's taking me forever to get my life back on track not only being sober but financially.

Good luck to you!

Day 4 winding down....

Hey All!

Worked in the heat today and thought I was gonna die! But, I managed to get through it and not do a bee line to O'Charlies for happy hour like I used to. Instead I went to Rite Aid (Liquor) to pick up some Gaterade and Melatonin (just in case). Of course the Gaterade was conveniently located right in front of my $5.99 12pk Bud Ice cooler. Once again, just a glance and kept on going. Funny thing I noticed is everyone in the store was buying booze whether it be Vodka, wine or beer......except me.

I'm feeling quite well on day 4 and am just really tired from work today only cuz it was about 90. Maybe the heat and physical work is kickin the w/d's right in the behind???

And not sure if this guy is gay or not - he don't sound gay? But that's all good. If he's not gay, I hope he's hot! Nonetheless, I can't pass up this opportunity and really don't want to burn how many hours of my life looking for a different place.

Well, have a nice night friends!

Hi everybody

Tonight will be my fourteenth night being sober, and as a test of my not wanting to drink alcohol any more and to earn my graduation from this thread, the gods have conspired a mighty test of my resolve. Tonight I go to a barn dance. There will be a couple hundred people, a bluegrass band, and tons of food and drink.

Most people are camping overnight in tents and trailers, but my wife agreed with me that it would be better if we didn't...that might be too much of a test! She's also agreed that if it's too much for me to deal with, we can leave early. That takes a ton of pressure off! I've never been all that comfortable in crowds, so I foresee having to get out of there once in a while to visit the horses or to just stare up at the stars.

As a reward, our daughter and I will be going rock climbing tomorrow. We haven't climbed yet this year and only got out a couple times last summer because I have a no hangover rule when it comes to rock climbing...too much to lose and little margin for error. She's turning nine this summer and just loves to climb. Two summers ago she would only go up about 15 feet or so on top rope, last year she she was comfortable up to 30 feet and then that was high enough, so tomorrow she just might top out!

I'm looking forward to going to this event, remembering every bit of it, having meaningful conversations with people I've just met, maybe making new life long friends with similar interests, and doing something I love the next day instead of nursing an all day hangover.

I'm so excited about all this!

I'm so happy for you Murray! Sounds like you got it together!

I'm in a pretty chipper mood myself at Day 5. Feel pretty darn good and went Krogering again after work. As usual right past my favorite beer aisle and naturally they still have the Bud Ice on sale. But of course I chose Powerade and flavored water - it was a lot cheaper and much healthier for me under the circumstances.

I picked up some fresh fish from the meat dept and am going to have me some fine grub tonight! Can't wait!

Happy Days Everyone!

Happy Days Everyone
I'm finding that sober days are so much happier than drinking days were. And I have fun adding them up. It's like counting money that pays interest every day.

Day 4: Misadventures in Hiking.

Snake, mudpit, losing shoes in mudpit, and a fast hike out. Homemade pizza, His Girl Friday, Advil, and a Unisom. Grateful for it all.

MTWildflower - You really survived your Day 4!

Least - I am finding that sober days are more peaceful and sane than drinking days. I am looking forward to becoming stronger each day I don't drink.

It's Day 15 for me today.

Amen to that! ONe of the best things about waking up sober is no longer hating myself as soon as I open my eyes. What a nice way to start each day!

Well now, who would have thought it possible to be relaxed, to be comfortable in my own sober skin and have good time at a barn dance without getting drunk? Not me a couple weeks ago, that's for sure!!!!!

I now know in the deepest sense that I will be alright at parties without alcohol. Funny isn't it, how I could have trusted alcohol for so many years to make social situations easier, when I didn't need it after all?

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences here on SR...it opened my eyes to a new future that I once thought impossible.

Day 6.

More misadventures in hiking and really tired yesterday, so anything I posted would have sounded like I was more in danger of slipping than I actually was. Was in the grocery store and got hit by a craving when I saw a bottle of wine in someone's basket. I knew I wasn't going to give in, so I went a got a little cheesecake and continued on, lol.

Feeling pretty good today so far.

CarolD, I started hiking last week, because I knew Day 1 was coming and thought I'd wrap it all up in a "lifestyle change" package. I thought if I started exercising regularly and slowly shaping up my diet I'd feel more normal about quitting drinking.

In the past week and a half, I've gone out every day except for a couple of rest days. I've hiked on and off over the years, so I'm not a newbie to it and Montana summers are short, so I've gotta get all my hikes in now.

Montana is totally made for hiking - low humidity, moderate temperature - sweat dries fast, lol!
