Hey Fandy, I used to have a dog walker, if you live in the right geographic area it can provide a very comfortable living, the down side is, that you still have to do it when the weather sucks.

Fandy, I don't find you pushy at all. Thank you for the continued ideas.

Divine coincidence has once again taken place and has lifted a veil and I'm upset about the realization of it...

I watched a tv show last night (one of those rare tv moments where there was actually something good on).

The show was called Breakthrough with Tony Robbins. I guess somewhat reality oriented, but it had a real solution spin and you can overcome anything attitude to it and talks about how to do this using other people's real life situations.

It was exactly what I needed to see and hear and it got me thinking...(this is where I'm upset)...

I have a bff and it dawned on me last night that for months now, she's been doing the 'yeah, buts' everytime I suggest an idea for work (or life for that matter).

For example, Fands, remember you suggested Medical Transcriptionist work based on my typing skills and how I could pick up a book and learn about it?

I said that to my friend and she immediately came back with, 'yeah, but too many doctors are using computers and speech recognition systems to make it worthwhile. You'll never be able to make a living doing it.' Thud.

This is just one of many yeah, buts she's flung back at me and it's not just about work...Her own life is a testament to that attitude.

It's time to detach with love and not be sucked into the defeatist mindset any longer and begin associating with other positive people like you who encourage me....I can't afford it, literally and figuratively.

Thank you.

The Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at my University (where Mr. Fandy #2 is on staff as an Interventional Cardiologist) spent more than 30K on patient note transcription to a service. Every surgeon dictates post-op notes, it's done through your email for editing, it pays (in the old days 12 cent per line double spaced)....there are quick 6 month courses you can take to get certified in medical technology...Medical billing pays even more, but you have to take a course to learn the certification codes... most offer work from home options....like I said you can work in your jammies (and buy some cool bunny slippers like Ann's).

the silly commercials about medical assts. (MSA certified) are true....there is NO real shortage in a lot of these jobs. My university starts an office MSA at $19.50 an hour.

I think the reason is because it's a lower level job, they have to pay an RN or MSN a whole lot more and it's a cost cutting measure....and why waste the professional's resources on the endless pre-cert paperwork when a lower level employee can do it.

another option is to see what the pharmaceutical companies are offering in entering study data....a lot of the secretaries free lance doing that after hours.

not everyone can afford "voice recognition" and if you are working in a huge medical institution that runs 12 ORs and a full cath lab...every single procedure is dictated and documented...(i think it is some kind of law)...hand written notes are now scanned into a huge outpatient database... i see 15 student assistants running around every day just on my floor.

Hbee like I said, i don't want to sound pushy, just offer a different angle, and there are a lot of different types of jobs, you previously wouldn't have bothered with that actually pay well and offer those all important benefits...and even if it it is only temporary....it could blossom into a supervisory position and it keeps you from going crazy with bills.

another place to hunt for a job is in the universities, schools, etc...even if it is per diem, you get your foot in the door.

i'm certainly not an expert (a little knowledge is a dangerous thing), but i'm happy to help answer any questions, or find the answer by picking someone's brain....feel free....and think outside the box or circle. ****{best vibes to you}}}}...try not to let the NAY-sayers get to you....

I wish I could work in a casino....I want to be a Blackjack dealer!

I wish I had a magic wand...

I can't even call this a gripe, because that doesn't really fit and would be insensitive, but I wanted to mention it here for those of you who don't read the friends and family of addicts forum...

A girl who was a student of mine last year (she's 15 or 16 years old) got pregnant last fall. She struggled with getting behind in school, sickness, and depression while she was pregnant. But she fought hard and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, managed to pass two classes and complete 2 more in summer school, and is now on track to only be a year late graduating (obviously she had other problems too, because the year before, which was her first year of high school, didn't go much better from an academic standpoint).

Anyways, I found out on facebook this morning that her baby is dead. He died sometime this morning, and no one seems to know what happened yet. All I know is this girl is crushed, because she has done everything she could do be a great momma, only to lose him after having him with her for about 8 weeks. This beautiful angel was happy, seemingly healthy, and definitely surrounded in love.

If you are the praying type, please join me in praying for my student, her family, and her friends. A lot of people are hurting terribly right now.
