try some rollers...if you curl it, it will look shorter too. i can look 3" taller if I use rollers!

HB, your old alarm may be intermittently losing power and restarting itself before it blinks, be sure it won't short out.

Hiya whiners.

I've been away a bit & am glad to be back. The 'puter's still acting up which is a pain but I've been trying not to spend as much of my time online anyway. Since then, I've had some very good days (ie...feeling good and getting alot of stuff done) with a few really crummy (ie. feeling lousy & sick) ones tossed in. My second round of tests for calcium and Vitamin D should come back soon. Sheesh...I hope it comes back better than the last labwork did.

It's great to catch up on the thread & know that whiners here are still winners.

Great to see you back, cmc! Hoping your test results come back good.

About haircuts...I cut my own hair alot...of course, that's why they make wigs and paper bags...

Seriously, my sister was a hairdresser for over 20 years so I know the "basics."

However, since I've been known to run with scissors, it's been suggested that I leave the new do's to the hairdresser.

When I was drinking, I used to love going to the salons that gave you wine. Upon sobering up and looking in the mirrow, however, I could see why they provided wine - yikes!

Ann, I read great reviews about this place:

Fandy, thanks for the short-circuit warning about my alarm clock. That freakin' clock is from the 1980's - it's time to catapult myself into the 21st century...

Also, kudos to you doing your own mechanic work without breaking a nail! Way to go! I can do some mechanic work myself too, but I currently have a stubborn problem with my horn - it doesn't beep.

My mechanic's on vacation this week so I've had to improvise:

A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do...

HB, it might not be the clock either, but the plug itself...if you have trouble with a different type of appliance in that same socket, get someone to check the wiring/plug....

I'm a big believer in prevention of electrical fires. my mother's house was built in the 1940s, there are issues with some of the sockets there...I won't use them

As a welcome home gift, I made up this Whine-ku for you...

Missing Whiner Haiku

CMC left us
Minus one whiner and so
I whined twice as much.

Welcome back cmc! YOu have been missed. :ghug3

Just got home from over two hours at the doctor. I was there for an hour getting IV fluids cause I was badly dehydrated. I have a wicked urinary tract infection. THe five days of antibiotics I got from the free clinic wasn't nearly enough, so my doctor gave me ten days and a refill on that. I am about to go to the store for more broth and some gatorade. I am to drink drink drink water/juice/gatorade like there's no tomorrow, so that is what I shall do. Doctor said if it didn't get better he'd have to put my in the hospital... and I can't do that - no one to care for the dogs and I can't afford another big medical bill.

So it's drink drink drink until I'm living in the bathroom.

A related whine... college kid is home now but she does NOT want to care for the dogs for me, except for letting them outside sometimes. So all the care I've provided for her cat and her rats is not reason for her to "give back" by taking care of the dogs for me if I should need help... Makes me mad that she's so selfish... and she's the best of the three kids (in town)! But will not care for my dogs.

Well best go get my scrips and my gatorade/broth.

OK (on the Aunt Dee thing), that makes sense. It did have a familiar ring to it as a matter of fact. Even though they were considered oldies, I did watch that one and Leave It to Beaver when I was growing up, so I do remember. I am from the 8-track generation too.

Unhappy

I love my dogs. They are so loyal to me and never get mad at me when I do things for their own good... unlike my mother... I am very depressed right now, worried for mom's well being but not welcome in her house to help her when she desperately needs my help but isn't aware enough of her problems to accept my help...

I think I'll just stick with my dogs for now...

Oh lordy, I loved that show and I AM old enough to remember.

The funniest episode ever was when Barney (Don Knotts)
wanted to join the choir (he can't sing)

Guess ya had to be there but the oldtimers will agree with me that that show was a classic.

Rain, Rain, go away
Queeny wants to go out and play.
Rain, rain just won't stop
Queeny may have to go and shop

Wait a minute. You're not going to believe this...

...was that the episode where Gomer Pyle took Barney's place for the solo part...but Barney, Gomer, and Andy sang the solo as a trio in the end? The song was Santa Lucia? Or different episode?

Jim Nabors...wow. Playing a dopey character with a voice like that.

I listened/watched this right before I went to my interview this morning...

...which went OK...except for a couple of things:

1. I didn't ask for the 2nd interview....I said, "So you'll call me if you'd like for a 2nd interview?" Doh!!!

2. I wrote two references on the application I filled out, but I forgot to hand the interviewer the sheet I had printed out. *facepalm*

And I was asked that dreaded question...sell me this pen. But it was a clip instead of a pin. Result? Fail. (but I think I could maybe have been forgiven for that...IDK)

I'm going to try to be Miss Optimist here...at least I got some practice in. Other than my goofs I think I did okay.

And I didn't talk about my bodily functions...but I did belch a couple of times. Not outloud...I disguised them very nicely. When I'm nervous I swallow a lot of air.

Bam, you probably did better than you think, and even if it doesn't pan out, you got a free opportunity to hone your interview skills.

And the choir episode was one where they put a baritone man on a microphone backstage to sing Barney's part, and told Barney to sing real low because he had such a powerful voice...and Barney believed it and thought it was his own voice, lol.

Like I said, ya had to be there but if you love that show like I do, just picturing it will make you laugh.

Least, I'm glad you got to the doctor and are getting treated. Hope you feel better soon.
