Day 5 - I;m still at the "wondering around in a haze - head swimming" phaze.
I have a big book w/o a sponsor (yet). Should I just read from start to finish? I also have the Dr.'s Opinion on CD I can listen to istead of all that music that seems to push me towards drinking.
I did think about getting drunk today at some point yesterday. I'll be alone much of the day after 3 straight with the wife and kids. Meeting at 12 and back home. I have a honey-do list but I've proven that doesn't always work for me.

OneLastChance.....Welcome back to SR
Thanks for joining in on our Yes! You Can thread...
Day 5 is a good start ....Well done!
I think you will find that not all the BB chapters
will suit your specific situation.
For me....I skipped "We Agnostics" "To The Wives"
"To Employers" "Working With Others" for awhile.
I found "A Vision For You" gave me so much
hope....and I sure did need that.
Hope your meeting went well....glad your here

I went to the gym today, this has been really really good for me as I've been able to get a lot of tension out of me by working out.
Problem is, one of my favorite things to do is swing by a little store on the way home from a workout and grab some drinks.... soooo counterproductive, I know.
Well, before I left home I put my debit and credit cards on the kitchen table. I thought I was such a genius, until I belatedly realized I actually had a bunch of cash on me, which is a pretty rare event. lol Oh well.
The money is for the office lottery pool. Not the best choice to have me run it as it has supported my drinking a number of times over the years - though I have paid it all back. I've just been thinking that I'll have to change when/where I buy lotto tickets to avoid that old habit, as well. I'm thinking instead of grabbing beer and lotto, I'll stop on my way to work and get coffee and lotto.

very inspirational! I look forward to being sore from the gym as opposed to being sore from upchucking and bumping into the furniture at 3AM going for that 10th glass of wine.
i am hoping to be be able to eat some solid food today....

Fandy...go get yourself some Ensure....it will help you get some strength and energ while you get through these first weeks.
Also tuna sandwiches are good and i recommend increased carbs .... sweets are ok if you aren't diabetic, but I found the sugar drop after the sugar high gave me cravings...by eating some bread, potatos or noodles along with the sweets....my blood sugars became more even and I had less cravings.
Good luck and keep posting

Hi Everyone......
Went to an AA meeting in the town "next door"
the topic was "The Serenity Prayer" and how we applied
it in all sorts of circumstances.
It certainly helps me to keep in calm balance
so I thought it would be good to add it here
if anyone is interested
Several people shared they were not "God folks"
however... they se it too for ...well......serenity. ...
Forward is the correct direction!
: for helping me live in the joy of recovery.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Back y'all.
Day 1ish.
Well, I'm sober right now. Went through the worst of it this morning... I hope.
I was 80 degrees hotter than outside... which was not good. It's sort of hot here.
Anyways... I'll be back later. Come here for chat, but... well.
PS. I've heard some people in AA meetings just say the Serenity Prayer without the first word (ie, the whole room pretty much says it all... some people pick it up from the second word). Whatever works, I reckon.
I need serenity. Life went and got hectic again...
