I was phoning round trying to get a game of fives arranged for tomorrow night, it got me thinking though, how much you isolate yourself when you are drinking.

A couple of years ago I didn't know any of these people that I was phoning, yet I thought of myself as a sociable chappie and a good laugh.

Hard to make friends with anyone though when you dont leave the house apart from to work and buy drink.

Reckon I've done more living in the last 2 years than I did the previous 15or at least I can remember the last 2 years.

For anyone reading this that is still struggling, take the time to claim your life back, it really is so much better.

On to reading " A necessary End " another Peter Robinson book. Part of the Inspector Banks series.

Big question - who'd win a fight between Banks and Rebus ?

I think Rebus would win but he'd fight dirty.

Rebus would win - but like in the books, not as John Hannah - he'd get snapped like a twig LOL.

Ah you see, fraid I have to disagree Dee old chap, I quite like Hannah as Rebus, much better than Ken Stott. Don't think Stott as Rebus is a problem, its just that they have the stories completly different from the books. Don't see the point if they're going the change the endings etc The Hannah ones stay pretty faithful to the books however.

Oh I meant Rebus as written would win...not as portrayed by either actor, actually LOL.

I preferred Stott but yeah, the Hannah stories were better written and more faithful.

I think Robbie Coltrane could have made an authentic Rebus, about 10 years ago, but he kinda mined that seam with Cracker.

Just bought a real treat the other week Dee, Box set of Taggart, 92 DVD's !!!!!!!

Always think Taggart isn't too disimilar to Rebus, my missus reckoned that maybe Taggart was inspired by Rebus, would have to be the other way round though as Taggart was on TV about 6 years before the first Rebus book was published.

I like old Taggart (with Taggart) a lot, didn't mind the Jardine years - can take or leave the latest lot though

yep the old episodes are the best Dee,could just be a sign we're getting old ourselves though !!!

We we're hit by a massive snowstorm over the last 24 hours.

We had a thunder storm that lasted 10 hours with snow. I've never seen lightning and thunder combined with snow before.

Just don't come on here as much as I used to Spen, I'm doing fine and selfishly don't need SR as much as I used to.

Hope everyones doing ok, I'm still trying to play football, climbing hills, reading, basically enjoying life.

My wee lad and me have started going to watch a bit of Ice Hockey as well, been to four games in January, really enjoying that, great game to go and watch.

Sure our Hockey is nothing like as good as the stuff you'se get to watch in the States though, we have a few Americans and Canadiens playing over here, I'm guessing that although they are stars over here they can't get a game over there.
