Class of January
Count me in too. I went 7 days last month and felt really good. First time in a long time I really gave it a try and believe i can do it this time. Failed NYE, as we had already had a party planned prior to making a "commitment" to stop. I know I should have avoided it, but the party meant to much to my husband and I guess I wanted one more "hooray". which I have totally regretted the last 2 days.
i am so glad i found this site. I plan on logging on everyday. Thanks everyone.

I know about the one last "hooray" I've had dozens of them myself over the last few years. Problem for me is there is always one more thing that I can justify waiting to do before I stop. Whether it's a wedding, brothers coming in town, etc. I'm thinking no more "hoorays" sounds pretty damn good at this point.

Thanks for welcoming me in guys, I was on about a two week drinking binge up untill New years and would say in the last 8 years I've never gone more then two weeks without drinking. But I'm ready now to give it up. -- for gooooood!
Today we had my family's Christmas/my birthday celebration (it got postponed for weather). Unexpectedly, my brother and his girlfriend gave me a bottle of wine for my birthday - my favorite, a shiraz. My mindset was so much on not drinking tonight because of anything that happened there that I didn't even see that one coming. Probably the best thing to have done would have been to tell them I stopped drinking, but I did the second best thing... I accepted it, then stopped at a store on the way home and threw it in the garbage (I knew if I threw it away at home or opened it to pour it out I would eventually end up drinking it). I felt bad, but I figure they would rather have me around and sane than have me drink just because they gave me a bottle of wine. So... day 3 almost over after that close call!
Also, welcome Shogun! My tipping point is usually about 2 weeks also. :ghug3
