Yesterday was a nightmare. I did drink some wine but the friend I was with got very drunk, she was nice one minute and nasty the next. I was shocked. I wondered why I had never really noticed that she had a problem with drink before. We have been friends since High School. The meal was very plesant and our daughters enjoyed it. They went home after the meal and I wish I had too.
She was so rude to the barmaid I did not know where to put my face, then she started on me cause she thought she had paid for everything, which she hadn't of course, she was just to pissed to know what she had spent!

But who am I to talk? Need to look at myself before I pass comment on others I suppose.

Sounds like a pretty crpy lunch and afternoon pixy. The drastic up and down from nice to mean pretty well sums up my drunk personality....it is hard to watch someone else going through it...sorta brings home what this is all about.

Taking a drink really opens the door to all that for me. Now that I have stopped....I find that behaviour is much less than it was. Most of the time I am able to finds some compassion, check my own reactions for where I am at, and deal in a way that i am comfortable with.

I do have to look at my own behavior and try to keep the focus there...although it can be hard when others give me such a blatant excuse not to

Pixie...do they have places you can meet a friend that don't serve alchohol over there? I know things are different and it isn't easy to find ones here but is possible.

Thanks Nands. Yeah I suppose there is loads of places, we have always just met in restaurants. It's so hard to change your life around. Its very obvious that sobriety will never happen unless I completly change everything in my life and my thought prosses.

I'm a real techno-dummy and with ck off in college I'm really lost. My neighbor is an expert tho! He even bought and installed (!!!!!) a bigger new hard drive for me last year. What a good guy!

Least before my partner and I got together my PC was playing up, I thought it was finished so bought a new one I coul dn't afford. A friend of mine turned up the same day before I took it out of the box. He asked if he could have a look at the old one, within 2hrs he had fixed it. So I took the new one back. I can't believe I spent £400 and didn't need to!

Hi everybody, just checking in. Pix, sorry to hear your lunch went badly... it's interesting to see others' alcohol issues, isn't it? It used to make me feel smug (see, I'm not THAT drunk), but now it just reminds me of why I need to stop! :ghug3

The storm has arrived! Snow has been falling since this morning and it is quite windy. We are supposed to stay frozen for at least a week which is very unusual here. Will probably be working from home tomorrow at least! As long as I don't lose power, I have plenty of good food to eat here (and no wine!).
