Me too. Not as many as I need. I also read Living Sober morning, noon and night! And the big book. It helps me keep it all in my head, very easy to go back into my old ways of thinking - it's my thinking that get's me into trouble every time!!

Back to work - 10 minutes!!!!

Hi Nands. ME and LB have met before.

I was looking into shortness of breath and alcohol withdrawal and it seems the two don't go together usually, it isn't listed as a symptom...
Thinking it might have been because my heart was under stress and that somehow affected my anurism causing the shortness of breath.
I am panicking now cos it was severe and I still have it a bit now, they were bad withdrawals, I only drank for 5 days but I was hallucinating with the withdrawals.

The A&E turned you away? What is that - a hospital? Did they check your heart?
Make sure they know that you are there for specific symptoms, not just withdrawal from alcohol. And your case is unique in that you have an pre-existing condition i.e. aneurysm. It's time to pull out all the stops while you still have a chance, Paul.

Hi Ro, the time the A&E (ER) turned me away was last year. It is their policy but if I had mentioned my heart they wouldnt have I reckon.

I didnt go this time, but I am improving all the time so don't worry.

I would go and mention the heart condition and tell them you are short of breath (and maybe some pain?). That'll get 'em to let you in. Whatever works.

Its not recommended but here sometimes people have to go to the ER hammered to get into a detox. Sometimes they say that they want to hurt themselves. Its the real truth. It sucks that it has to happen that way. I think I have heard of people getting the active alkie "one last bottle" and let them get their load on so they wont resist as much going to the hospital/detox and then pass out while they wait for the hospital to find them one if they dont have or take the persons insurance. I have state provided health insurance and have been turned down at the local detox/psych ward but if I have been drinking they have always found me a place to go. Not always the nicest place, but a place so that I am safe from myself taking another drink or hurting myself.

Just my experience.
It happened last night.
I dont recommend it and have never gotten anyone but myself that "one last bottle".

I hate this friggin disease.

Stone....my experience.....one week sober I went to the ER. Body was a mess, head was worse, I was suicidal. It was an instant ticket to the psych ward, do not pass go, do not collect $200. It wasn't cheap, but looking back it was probably one of the smarter things I did for my recovery.

My point....if you need help, demand it and don't leave until you get it.

Good morning everyone, TGIF!
