Chiy's Daily Inspiration
Beautiful stuff Trish..wow, I have missed out not coming here.
I loved the one about encouraging children. As a social worker, I saw too many kids
damaged beyond repair when they could have been "saved" with just a little
encouragement instead of harsh treatment by their caretakers and parents.
They craved it and scrabbled for it like puppies under the dinner table, and
finally..after the years wore on, just gave up.
Really liked the Obama one too..
And the light on the tree in the meadow one...and... lol.
Thanks for these..

I agree this thread is brilliant, thanks Trish!
KOOKS..
Sorry, didn't read the book...just saw a lot. I did see the effects of good parenting.
Good foster parents..good placements. I've seen kids and parents overcome overwhelming
obstacles against all odds..with encouragement and a little support and some tools.
Some of the best rewards I have ever had in my life have been to run into a former client who has sad..
"You made a difference, you believed in me." A kid....a parent. It reminds me that we never know the
impact we make on others' lives...or we may not find out until years later.
Thanks for the tip on the book! I'll look out for it...
....
Hey, wait a minute..I heard Dave speak at a SW and caregiver luncheon about 5 years ago!
Yeah..against all odds indeed.

May we never let the things we can?t have, or don?t have, or shouldn?t have, spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it, for one of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have. ~ Richard L. Evans
