Giving up meds
Hi all ...... I’ve posted in here a lot about my mental health and my depression that will not go away . I am currently on ativan, which I am trying to taper off of and mirtazapine which I hate . I want to just taper off that as well as it is my 24th med and nothing seems to work . Has anyone on here stopped meds and had any success with it or have you only gotten worse ? I have never gotten out of the depression or anxiety so I know what the answer probably is . This all started when I stopped drinking three years ago .
I've been on sertraline (Zoloft) for years and it works very well for me. Several years ago I ran out and had no money for a refill for a few weeks. I noticed my depression getting worse. I was really glad when I was able to start taking them again.
Are you coming off these meds with the support and advice of your doctor? I would consult your doctor about tapering off.

I've tapered off of SSRI's many years ago in early sobriety, under the supervision of my doctor. Wouldn't have done it any other way, he felt that my recovery program was helping my anxiety and depression more than the meds were.
