Lithium / Abilify
Lithium / Abilify
Hi! Im in treatment and in detox the doctor switched my meds up, giving me : Abilify, Lithium, Trazadone, Zoloft, Clonidine and Robaxin.
The lithium and abilify are being used off label for anxiety and depression but since I started all these meds , though my anxiety seems to be getting better - I am in a hellish deppression with a deep brain fog.
I know I'll be hurting without the alcohol and drugs for awhile but i know these meds are increasing some symptoms and I dont know if I should stop the lithium and abilify, because I beleive its one of them.

Is anyone familiar with these meds. Do you recommend I stay on them to see if they begin to work in another week or 2. Ive been on them all for 2 weeks. Should I stop the abilify or lithium, they just dont seem proper for anxiety / alcoholism.
Any thoughts appreciated. (and its from a random clinic, hes not a long term dr)

Hello jinx, keep in mind that we can't give medical advice here but we can share experience, I'm sure you'll have some of our members chime in. Just wanted to welcome you to SR, I hope you find this site useful and comforting.
Update
As there is a mental health / detox in the same building as the program I am in, I caved in due to depression, anxiety & the Main reason , complete Insomnia and inability to sleep, and I changed all my meds.
I admit I was a bit of my own doctor , dictating the meds I switched to after research & some medications I have been on in the past, but I am feeling much better.
I was on the psych side for about a week before coming back to the short term residential, where I am now ( until I go to long term next week)
It's odd - for the first time my anxiety is mostly curbed and main symptoms are depression, anger and at times a strong worry of the future I wouldn't equate with my anxiety disorder.
But for 25 days sober - I am feeling much better and much fatter than a month ago. Getting a real gut - time to start working out!
Medications - Escitalopram 20mg, Gabapentin 600mg tid, Quietiapine 50mg bid, 300mg @ bed,
Was also on Bupropion 300mg XL but stopped due to chronic pulsating headache in the temples and a strange sort of confusion.

Hi jinx77 I have taken many of these medications. All I know is when if I waited around with depression my depression got a little better. When I quit all vices but nicotine drinking, drugs, poker, porn I got remarkably better . Abilify is what I wish I stayed with for schizoaffective bipolar disorder but I dumped it down the toilet and had a psychotic break it was terrible.I still take trazodone it helps me stay asleep longer no hangover from it. walking 20 minutes a day will help with depression but when my depression is bad brushing my teeth feels like I have to climb Mount Everest .
