12 weeks ago today.
Feeling very depressed today. It's a long story and I've had other threads in here that details what happened, but it's hard to believe 12 weeks ago today I flew over to see my "friend" in the UK and it all went horribly wrong. Ive been doing a lot of work on myself but today just reminded me how raw it still is, how I'm still dealing with it, nearly 3 months on. I've realised I was codependent, he is a drug and alcohol addict in recovery now, but take away all the fancy terms and we were 2 good friends, sometimes more than friends who got damaged along the way. I feel like I'll never get over it, really feels like that. Will I ever be normal again. Who knows
Depression sucks. I lived with it since I was a teenager. I say that normal is a cycle on the washing machine.
I was depressed and anxious when I left my EXAH. It took years for me to finally look at my codependency issues, and that's when I started to feel like myself, actually a better version of me.
Sending you hugs of support!

I agree with DeV that time and recovery work are factors in healing, I've been around a while and I still feel like I'm fixing pieces of myself and improving every day. As they say, I'm a "work in progress" and always will be.
Glen,
Imo...like the song says...everybody hurts sometimes.
We all carry mental and physical burdens.
I am not saying that in a...stop complaining way.
I am saying that in a...you are not alone way.
I feel odd sometimes each day. Other times I feel normal.
For me...I believe it has a lot to do w dealing w the world sober...booze haze free.
I used to have a constant haze...like an internal sheet of plastic I experienced the world through. I was in detox, drunk, or drinking all the time.
I listen to Howard Stern, polarizing, and he has been in therapy 17 years. Many people that come on his show have been in therapy.
I know I could use some therapy, but in my line of work it is a show stopper.
Thankfully, we have sr.
Keep posting...this place saved my life.
Thanks.
