Any chemical that gets you high is a short lived shortcut to feeling better and will prolong or restart the cycle of addiction. If you're an addict you can't use it. Period. In my opinion non-addicts should also avoid getting high, but that's their choice. CBD shouldn't get you high so you should be ok. THC will get you high so should be avoided.
Try and keep this simple. Do you deal with emotional pain on your own and with the help of a higher power, or do you use a chemical? One way is recovery and one way is addiction.
Prescription drugs are still drugs but they have their place. If you are prescribed them it is best they come from a doctor who knows your background and understands addiction. There are doctors who will prescribe valium to addicts so be careful.
